What are you getting your 9yo DS?

I’m interested to know what others are getting their 9yo boys? Feeling a bit stuck for ideas.

DS is into Star Wars, Minecraft, Warhammer, Roblox, Nerf, Jurassic dinosaurs etc but I feel like we have exhausted in the past Christmas & birthdays things like Lego, Switch games, Nerf blasters/accessories, figures for all of the above. He’s not really playing with toys so much anymore. He doesn’t need anything related to his hobbies.

We have already got him several books and character t-shirts and a Star Wars Lego set.

Trying to think of experience gifts too - we have a monthly cinema pass so that’s out, and he’s not keen on trampoline parks or zoos.

Ds2 is 9 nearly 10.
He has asked for FIFA 25, new switch controllers, bigger football goal and a tv for his bedroom.
I like getting him toys but also feel like we have exhausted them now.

For a leftfield suggestion:
I've had previous success with tickets to TWISTmuseum in London (immersive, interactive optical illusions).

It's (literally!) mind-blowing for kids (ours were aged 8 and 10), teens and adults.

we did a football stadium tour for the DN's birthdays this year and that was a hit, even with the one who's not particularly into football.
Go Ape also do gift vouchers and should be suitable for that age group or do you have a Ninja Warrior type place nearby (might be too like trampoline parks though?)
Books
Trainers
PJs
Dressing gown / onesie / Oodie
Lava lamp
Things for his bedroom e.g. duvet cover, beanbag, lightstrips - DN is wanting an upgrade from the decor he's had since being a toddler!

How about something like a coding toy - there's one called Turing Tumble I've seen adverts for, it's not a 'toy' per se but a bit like a more advanced marble run that teaches you coding principles. Or other STEM kinds of things like programmable robots.

If he likes lego but you've exhausted most of the themed kits he's interested in, what about branching out into other construction kinds of things - like airfix, meccano. When I was younger we had a model building shop in our high street that sold kits from a Japanese brand called Tamiya, google some of those, they're amazing. Some are just models and others are remote controlled. Most were vehicles but I remember some were robot animals that then walked or swam.

DS is 10. I was getting him a metal detector but I've changed my mind as we get really cold harsh winters here so it won't get used for months.

I've got him a new desk and chair, some magnetic Minecraft building blocks, a little robot thingy, a bodycam and a few little games.

Mine is turning 8, very few ideas.
Lego speed
Football strip
rebounder.
Fifa 25
Lego race game for Switch
3D jigsaw
RC Car
Football Annual

I looked at Gravitrax for him but not sure.

Second boy so we have most things. And I need to divide those ideas between family for both birthday and Christmas

they have some great gifts and you can filter by age.

I really recommend the game Klask. We play it so much and it’s always a hit when friends come over with their kids, even the teens!

i haven’t thought of much for my son yet as just had his birthday but I’m thinking about a tabletop football game.

My DS is also a great lover of Star Wars, so I ordered him a lightsaber from https://sithsabers.com/
He adores it and has been having a ball with it. This is definitely a triumph for us! 😊
