Hi what are you buying your 18 years old dd’s this year?

OP posts:
Dunk19 · 30/10/2024 15:30

Handbag for nights out
PLouise lip kit
Oodie
Make up headband
Hot choc selection box
Zara vouchers

GinaDreamsofRunningAway · 30/10/2024 15:33

We give our 18year old DD some money now but I also get a nice gift bag and put a few items in it for her. Usually perfume, a hair care set, some skin care stuff, maybe a make up set and some cosy socks and some chocolates. Just so I also have something to give her on Christmas morning.

Rasputin123 · 30/10/2024 15:37

Teenage girls are all so different, mine is 19
but would hate any of the above suggestions (apart from money and chocolate). But she isn’t into make up and preening herself unlike most. She is at Uni so I was going to get her a Crimpit to make toasties/pasties, something for her Uni room, chocolate and money.

Mintymatchmakerheaven · 30/10/2024 15:39

Nice pyjamas
Fluffy socks
Hair tool thingy
Skin care/hair care products probably poundland dupes
Perfume

RestitutionGranted · 30/10/2024 15:44

Dd1's very nearly 18. We've just bought her present today...a very much longed for pair of Dr Marten's! She's been trying to save for them for a while but hasn't got very far (only works very part time) so took her to the DM shop in Meadowhall to try them on. They're now safely tucked away 😊

She's also got a stocking of little bits - some make up & sponges in there, shower scrubby & fancy gel, novelty stationery, jewellery, couple of silly sized things she's jokingly asked for (harmonica necklace, for example. She asked for a harmonica after seeing one of her favourite artists play one this year).

She'll also get pj's, and some other bits to open, but not loads tbh.

That sounds just like my dd, I find it hard to buy for her. So far I have got her a hoodie with her favourite animal on (from bbc earth). I’m not sure what else to get her but I will do her a little food hamper containing her favourite snacks.

I hot mine a furry heated blanket last year and it was a hit

Franticbutterfly · 31/10/2024 09:50

Mine is 16 but has Nars loose powder, ghds, contigo coffee cup, phone stand/charger, phone case, benefit mascara set (😉), locket from Hit diamonds (🙂), some clothes from Zara and Adidas.

therewasafishinthepercolator · 31/10/2024 10:04

Ideas so far:

Money
Waffle maker
Jellycat
Knopps hot choc selection box or Chocoa gift set
Pyjamas
Clothes
Perfume
Earrings / necklace (they won't be expensive - she likes Etsy type bits).

She likes quirky gifty crafty things but only if I see something nice. Not buying toot for sake of it.

There's no stand out wow gift this year.

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 31/10/2024 10:12

Some I've got, some to get.

Couple of albums
New converse
Fidget ring
Perks of being a wallflower dvd
Lost boys poster
Beavertown glasses
And she's getting a voucher for a city break.

Itsforthebest · 31/10/2024 10:14

Tickets to see Sam Fender (already bought). She'd like a set of headphones and she's talking about going to a festival next summer. I think we'll end up giving her money so she can put it towards whatever she wants. But I know she loves opening gifts on Christmas Day so I'll buy her a few small things eg toiletries, make up, perfume etc. It all adds up though and funds are tight this year!

imanidiotsandwich · 31/10/2024 10:45

New phone this year and theatre tickets

Brananan · 31/10/2024 10:52

Perfume
Weekend bag
Posh jodhpurs
Sally Rooney book
Vinyl x 2
Oodie

BottomlessBrunch · 31/10/2024 14:15

Clothes from Stradivarius
Clinique make up set
Adanola bag
Selection box
Kylie pink Prosecco
If budget allows possibly new balance trainers.

Attelina · 31/10/2024 14:28

My children are older.

One of my nieces is 18.

She's getting a saddle, Loxley mini bag in stone from Fairfax and favour and Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Sequin lipstick in Twinkle and a Dior curl mascara Christmas set.

Coffeebreakneeds · 01/11/2024 08:24

My 18yo DD is getting the Luxe Lashlift and Tint set. I have also bought her a beauty advent calendar. She is going abroad with school in the new year so I will buy her some bits for that. New bikini, coverup, flip flops, nice sun cream etc. Some sports kit.

Some of it will be things I would buy anyway but will wrap up. Plus the usual pj's, underwear, belly bar, earrings etc. I will probably give her and her boyfriend a dinner voucher like I did last year as well so they can go out and not have to worry about the bill!

Duchess87 · 02/11/2024 08:50

Coffee break needs may I ask which beauty advent you bought please
These ideas are all great

motherofonegirl · 09/11/2024 08:31

My daughter is a bit younger but I've got her a Sephora advent calendar

RestitutionGranted · 09/11/2024 10:26

I’ve got my 18 yr old DD the M & S beauty advent calendar. She had it last year and loved it.

She came back from uni for a few days so took days 1-13 with her and has left the rest here as not much space in her bag!
