How to gift a trip to London

Stopcoughing · 28/10/2024 18:14

I've booked my ds and dd a trip to London, flights, hotel etc for next year but want to give as a present for Christmas.
Any ideas how I can wrap this / present it?

How about a few wrapped gifts each in a gift bag where they have to guess where they're going?

Depending on where you're going/what they know about London it doesn't have to be complete tat 😂 mini Lego kit of Big Ben or similar (or the dupes on Temu 🤫), bag of M&Ms (M&M world), guide/sticker book that's age appropriate, Natural History Museum gems/kit. Can tailor to your budget and make it a fun reveal!

Not sure why my last post got hidden immediately 😂

Maybe do a gift bag for each with small gifts inside related to your trip and make it a guessing game? Can be tailored to ages/hobbies/budget but I'd do:

Bag of M&Ms (M&M world)

Mini Lego/toy kit for the London Eye or similar

Dinosaur (Natural History Museum)

Shopping tote bag (Oxford St!)

Sticker or guide book

Plane essentials kit (ear buds/snacks/passport holder?)

Blank St gift card (if you have a trendy teen 😂)

How old are they? Do they like lego? Could you get them the London lego architecture set? It's about £35. Or something like a Paddington cuddly toy?

Depending on age, send for an Oyster card for each of them?

That's a nice idea but my heart sinks that the first thing you think of as representative of our world-class capital city is M&M World.

You could get a London jigsaw puzzle and put a note with it. Or London Monopoly if they like board games.

Great ideas thank you!

M&s also do cute biscuit tins of landmarks I think or maybe at least the bus

Karaokequeenie · 28/10/2024 18:32

London snow globe

Depends on your budget, but if you have a spare £40 knocking about, I’d get them a Tom Martin bauble depicting Father Christmas with the Kings guard, with the itinerary folded up and hidden in the bottom of the box (the packaging is very swish). It couldn’t be more London, they’re beautiful decorations and they’ll keep it forever.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 28/10/2024 18:48

@niadainud 😂😂😭 Don't I know it! I live close by, commute in for work, love everything about the city, have brought DS in at least a hundred times to every museum/park/landmark/child-friendly theatre production there is, only for M&M World to be the only place he regularly asks to go to in London! Going by how rammed it always seems to be I'd guess it's pretty high on some kids lists of things to do/see so was the first to pop into my head 🤦‍♀️

immchuckbass · 28/10/2024 18:59

I make acrylic ‘tickets’ that are customised.. I’ve made them for days out, holidays, theatre shows etc.. pop them in a box with a detailed itinerary and a bow. Always a nice little keepsake to remember the trip by x

Just looked at these baubles, they are beautiful.

The photos don’t do them justice. I’ve got one of The Snowman ones and I bought my DSiL another one and they are stunning. Highly recommended.

Same !

I’d just get them an Oyster card
