Winter boots for 10 year old boy

Though I’d ask here to see if I get any ideas before venturing onto the style boards. I can swap it over to style if it’s more appropriate though!
I need some warm school shoes/boots for my DS but just something he can wear through the winter outside of school too.
It’s his birthday this week, so will go to get some presents.
He’s been wearing sketchers bought new in Sept snd they are absolutely falling apart, also not warm enough for winter. He didn’t want the usual school shoes this year 🤷‍♀️
They need to be football friendly so not too chunky.
I’ve been looking at Uggs or Dr Martens but I’m not sure what’s the best style, there are so many!!
All ideas welcome please

First thing I'd do is check the school uniform policy. None of the schools my kids have been to would allow boots as part of the uniform.

I tend to do warm, thick, socks with leather shoes in the winter.

For school if it permits, I’d go for leather trainers. My son wouldn’t be seen dead in Uggs I’m afraid. DMs would be a no as well.

Check the uniform policy. And I don't think DMs are generally good for kids because they hurt while you're wearing them in.

Actually not heard of leather trainers but that’s probably be ideal.

Thinking about it, yes Uggs/Dm’s maybe not the thing, more like desert boots but not chunky.

Air force 1s are popular where I am. They come in black if you need them for school.
