Charity shop gem

I just wanted to share this absolutely gorgeous gem I found in a local charity shop today. I believe it was probably handmade due to the markings on the bottom? It's beautiful.

My granddaughter loves those. I saw one in a charity shop near here and it was eight pounds fifty..too pricy for me. I think I’ll have another look.

Waaaay to freaky for me. But that's great they've found a new home....and you now know who to blame when things go bump in the night, as they oust the manic smiling elf on the shelf!

Now, I could be wrong but I studied Russian a long time ago and I think it says the maker is A Sidorov (common Russian surname) and the town name Sergiev Posad, which is just outside Moscow. If you google images it seems there were lots of Russian dolls made there - it’s famous for its monastery and the orthodox priests would have had long white beards.

Hi OP. I don’t really want to burst your bubble but it looks as if there is a bigger height difference between the 1st one and the 2nd so I would think that one of the set is missing.

I've had a look at this, there's definitely not enough space inside to fit anything bigger than the 2nd doll.. so I'm assuming they are all there. But I could just be delusional 🤣

Utterly beautiful and unique op! So much more warmth and character than the ones mass produced.
I still kick myself for not buying a stunning handpainted set from nuns at bath market.
