Christmas party - help me decorate!

We're throwing a party the first weekend in December and would like to have the house decorated in a festive way. Am really looking forward to it as we're not usually around much in December so don't get to have fun decorating (also don't have that many for the same reason). Started to think of some ideas then remembered this fab corner of Mumsnet and I thought you'd all probably be full of festive inspiration ♥️

I quite like a Nordic vibe, with natural materials where possible.

Am thinking of having some sort of greenery down the stairs/on the mantle and putting some twinkley lights in the downstairs spaces where we'll mainly be gathering. But any other suggestions/inspiration would be very welcome!

Things to note:

  • we won't have a tree
  • can't have candles
  • won't have many 'surfaces' to put things out on

(Pretty much all limitations due to lack of space. Prioritising guests over side tables and trees 😂)

Make use of the ceiling and pop some lights up there! I like how these are done.

We have some Poundland swags to which I add a few poinsettias and bells, They hook onto little nails which stay there all year and can’t be seen so it’s a work of a few minutes to hang the swags over all the doors in the hall.
They don’t get in the way but add a festive air very quickly. (I hope) Also a long swag up the banisters and three mantelpieces.
