Gifts for teen boys 12-16

I'm after some collective help please.

I volunteer at a Christmas toy appeal and every single year our emptiest tables are the teen boys. People just don't seem to know what to donate to them.

I have been given a donation which I will convert to gifts, but does anyone have any ideas what I could get. I normally go for footballs, rugby balls and smelly sets.

Key things.
we don't give cash nor vouchers, (mainly as lots of these kids don't have PS or Xbox to spend them on) and money is not the aim of what we do.
I aim to spend around £10-£15 per gift.

Any brilliant ideas on what I could add to the boys tables this year?

each child comes out with one main gift, one smelly set and some chocs.

If you don't know them, the Happy Puzzle Company are an environmentally friendly puzzle and games company. You can search by age and price, and they have lots of games and puzzles (think maths/science puzzles not jigsaws) for older boys.

When buying for family friends of this age, i normally just buy the sort of thing I'd buy my husband as a stocking filler, e.g.:

Escape room game: Thames & Kosmos EXIT: The Haunted Roller Coaster, Escape Room Card Game, Family Games for Game Night, Party Games for Adults and Kids, For 1 to 4 Players, Ages 10+ https://amzn.eu/d/8C5nFGd

This is maybe of questionable suitability - always goes down well though! Lock picking set - like a puzzle really - https://amzn.eu/d/7Z0Gki6

Sure you can get this cheaper - SHASHIBO Shape Shifting Box - Award-Winning, Patented Fidget Cube w/ 36 Rare Earth Magnets - Transforms Into Over 70 Shapes (Spaced Out) https://amzn.eu/d/2rQ93vw

Soul Shift - 4 X Boxing Reflex Balls 2 x Headbands - Reaction Ball - Safety Glasses - Hand Eye Coordination, Boxing Reflex Ball Headband,MMA Training Equipment, Punching Ball https://amzn.eu/d/8TwMluw

I think previous suggestion of headphones is a really good one.

Books (fiction and non fiction), accessories (hats, gloves, backpacks), foodie treats, scooter, skateboard, tennis or badminton racquets, football, nets, basketball and hoop, lava lamp, headphones, mini MP3 player (for music), basic guitar and music book, reusable water bottle and even a soft toy! Many boys of that age would still love a cute softie!

I got my nephew a table tennis set and that was appreciated. You don't need a table, any surface will do.

I’ve heard things like Greggs and cinema vouchers go down well. I give to this age group a lot in our local Christmas appeal and give a lot of the things listed. I usually make up a bag with 6 present items and two chocolate/ sweet items. I’ve put in a marvel art book and where’s the Wookiee book before, usually a T-shirt, hoodie or shirt, a puzzle book, thriller book, shower gel, arcade in a tin, socks, water bottle, wallet, earphones, light up keyring, hat, touch screen gloves, rucksack, rubix cube, card games, magic tricks, notepads, pens, body sprays etc

I just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone for ideas. Honestly, you've expanded what the boys table will have by a huge amount. I picked up lots of cool rubic cube type puzzles yesterday and am on the look out for cross body bags, gym type bags and Nike socks too, as well as other stuff from above!

This looks really good

Last year m&mdirect had loads of Nike accessories including gloves, snoods, water bottles and the like. They're usually pretty decent for branded accessories

mamajong · 27/10/2024 21:09

I always choose teenage boys for the giving tree for this reason. My 15yo is sports mad so anything sports related is a hit. Other gifts he's liked include LED lights, realistic space projector light, rubix cube & similar puzzles, mini table football & mini Air hockey. He enjoyed the book about the story of Nike, and also likes the guiness book of world records

They have some puma drawstring bags for £3.99! Also lots of other options for tops/socks/man bags etc.

I should probably also mention that if you use a site like TopCashback, you'll get cash back on all your purchases and make your budget stretch further x

I agree on the Nike socks which they will much prefer to a cheaper pair. It's a risk with sizes but these are a bargain and fab quality www.hollisterco.com/shop/uk/p/relaxed-mclaren-graphic-tee-56197836
