Christmas party

Right I need people who know what they are doing!!

Last year DH and I hosted a Christmas party. We wanted to include children (we have two) and have adults evening too.

So I ended up doing a buffet with baguettes, cheeses, pizzas, canapes etc from 3pm and then did a curry and trifle in the evening.

I was knackered. 40 odd responded positively but 17 didn't show and I ended with with a lot of leftovers.

Wed love to host again though. Any pointers or tips please? I suggested just a never ending table of cables etc but DH said that would be a pain.

Could you just do one meal instead of lunch and dinner? But then have bits that people can pick at later?

I host a “Christmas Day With Friends” every year and there’s about 18-22 adults and a couple of children.

We eat around 2pm and people pick at leftovers later, but everyone usually is so full!

Food wise we do:
Main/hot bits…
A ham and a turkey with baps, stuffing, apple sauce etc.
Sticky sausages
Oven bits like mozzarella sticks, breaded chicken pieces, spring rolls, pigs in blankets
A few camemberts done in the oven (ft rosemary and garlic) with crusty bread
Cold bits for constant grazing…
Massive cheese board with chutneys, grapes and crackers
Shed load of crisps and dips

And then we don’t do a proper desert, one of the girls does amazing home made mince pies, someone else brings a huge Yule log and I do some festive brownies or mini cheesecakes, or rice crispy Christmas puds. And then a few tubs of celebrations/heros/roses/quality st.

Sorry for delay in replying. Yeah that's a thought. Thanks.

Could you put a start and end time and do one lot of food such as gammon, quiche, cheeseboard, chicken nuggets, salad, coleslaw etc?

Maybe ask guests to bring a dessert.
