How did your spend on your dc change once they turned 18?

DD has just turned 18, so this will obviously be her first Christmas as such.

She’s still living at home obviously and is still in full time education.
Once your children turned 18, how did what you spent on them at Christmas change?
I know everyone’s circumstances differ so I’m not necessarily meaning how much do you spend, but how did it change once they reached 18?

I did say I would cut back but it was Covid years then DD went to uni so I kept to same budget as bigger items were still needed. However now the youngest is 21 I've said it's £100 each and that's it. So no big piles of presents this year. 😧 Problem is dd has expensive tastes in make up so it could easily end up just being a stocking for her!!

My youngest now 21 is on a work placement year out from uni so all four are working this Xmas so one present each of about £50. They have far more spare money than me!
Same for DGD and that's it. I don't buy for anyone else. We all just spend lots of family time together ❤️

No change in terms of spend. This year I’ve bought my eldest a first edition of a book, earrings, dress (their choice), headphones. Usual stocking stuff.

We give ds(20) around £1k. But only because he is at uni, he works hard PT to otherwise fund himself through uni and we give him very little during the year other than a roof over his head and occasional meals when he is home (he commutes), so it is more like our parental contribution and a bit of money towards his summer holidays with his friends.
