I have 2 DD’s one is 15 on 28/12 the other is 12. Over the years I have bought some weird and wonderful stuff but this years takes the biscuit.

I have bought DD1 a mullet calendar, yes that’s right a 12mth calendar of people with their mullets 🤣 For context she has a mullet and has had one for a few years. She absolutely loves them and it has become a bit of an inside joke now. She’s going to be chuffed on Christmas morning 🤣

I once bought DH a pair of Dartington glass nipple vases. Or rather I got my aunt to buy them for me, which my cousin found especially funny as 'nipple vase' is now immortalised in her mum's eBay search history.
They're very tactile. 😉

When my DD was 7, she wanted broccoli for Christmas....

Samandytimlucypeterolivia · 20/10/2024 22:23

back When she was about 8 dd asked for some chopsticks for Christmas, I’ve bought her a new pack ever since. Got her some bunny topped ones this year. I’m not even sure how she knows how to use them. I sure as hell can’t, but she’s like a pro….

DS2 (15) wants a fresh dragonfruit. Haven’t found anywhere local that sells them yet!

buckeejit · 20/10/2024 23:05

@HerbertVonDoodlebug our country M&S had them today!

Flatandhappy · 21/10/2024 05:45

I might just have to get that mullet calendar for DD’s partner 😂 Thanks @Tinaforshort

M&S or Waitrose.

I prefer the red ones but the white look more exciting.

I bought one in Asda the other day

Because I don't approve of most breakfast cereals, for the last few years I have bought them both a box of some sugary stuff that they love. It started with lucky charms years ago. Last year DD2 asked for Oreo's cereal and the other DD got white chocolate and ?raspberry shreddies as she likes pink things 🙄

HerbertVonDoodlebug · 21/10/2024 08:04

Thanks for the dragonfruit tips! Will check local M&S / Waitrose!

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 21/10/2024 08:58

When my DD was 2 she wanted a yoyo and then the next year she asked for a garden sprinkler we didn't have any grass!

WeWillGetThereInTheEnd · 21/10/2024 09:01

DS has variously asked for a kitchen bin and electric flosser. He believes in practical presents!

When my daughter was 7 she told me she wanted a gold bar for Christmas lol she didn't get one. I always used to fill my son and daughters stockings up with really daft presents and there was a ten year age gap between them but they still sat together every Christmas morning to open them, my son died in 2022 aged 22 in an accident and my daughter hates the stocking now because she feels the loss of her big brother and their little traditions so for the past few years it's been a bit shit. Christmas 2021 though I put £100 in an envelope and I spent months wrapping it up with Christmas paper and it was massive and a massive waste of paper but it took my son a day and a half to get to it and the look on his face when he kept revealing more paper just made us all laugh so much and he kept saying "if I get to it and it's a bar of chocolate I'm gonna kill you" I'm glad I have that memory and I do miss annoying him and being annoyed by him.

I got my daughter a calendar last year of dogs shitting in various places lol she is definitely getting the mullet one this year so thanks for the suggestion lol

I’m so sorry to hear about your son, but what a lovely memory to have of him. My own brother died in a car crash back in 1995, I was 15 he was 14. Some of the fondest memories I have of him are from our Christmases together as children.

I’m glad I’ve inspired some of you to also get the mullet calendar. I bought it from a local selling site for £1 but I believe they sell them on Temu.

I've bought dp a sink unblocker thing before, long plastic strip with spikes on it... We tend to do a useful/random gift each year since he got me a new wok on our first Xmas 😂

Ihopeithinkiknow · 21/10/2024 17:59

@Tinaforshort oh I'm so sorry to hear about your brother it's just shit sometimes isn't it, my son died after being hit by a car and it just shatters your whole world doesn't it and my daughter is nearly 15 now and misses him terribly. I'm off to order the mullet calendar now lol and I'm gonna tell her this little story about how I decided to buy it for her haha

Tinaforshort · 21/10/2024 18:14

@Ihopeithinkiknow yes, it’s just absolute shit. It was a whole lifetime ago for me. I find it so strange my eldest DD is the same age, in fact older now (by months) than he was when he died. My youngest DD looks and acts just like him it.

I hope it brings a smile to your DD’s face on Christmas morning. I’ll be honest it’s the present I’m most excited to give my DD

sending love to you Flowers
