What’s your 3 year old boy getting?

Son will turn 3 a month before Christmas and I do already have most of his presents planned and/or bought. Just looking for some things I may not have thought of.

Bonus points to those whose suggestions aren’t toys that include 650 loose parts. 😳🤣

My soon to be 3 year old is getting a wooden post office and a wooden rocket ship from great little trading co. they have a sale on now!

It's also his bday next month so he's getting a larger balance bike that can convert to a normal bike.

Roleplay toys are definitely popular at this age, we have a kitchen and ice cream shop coming this year (one for birthday, one for Christmas).

I’m away to Google this wooden rocket ship…

Oh and stickle bricks

Notthebeard · 15/10/2024 21:17

You are very organised, I’ve not bought anything yet 😬! Hoping to get him:

Magnatiles
Numberblocks Stampoline Set
A copy of James’ scarf from The Snowman film.
A space themed floor puzzle.
The Rocket Game by Orchard Games.
Some building tools, he is obsessed with being a builder. Need to find something realistic but 3 year old friendly!

SunQueen24 · 15/10/2024 21:18

An electric toothbrush
some puzzles - he loves those wooden puzzles
some coloured paper for colouring

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 15/10/2024 21:21

Just realised your son also turns 3 same month as mine. He's the 17th Nov :)

I checked gltc to send the link of the rocket but I can't find it!!

Puzzles are a good idea as a pp says. I find my 3 yr old growing up too fast with a 5yr old brother to learn from!

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 15/10/2024 21:22

@Notthebeard you can buy foam builders bricks on Amazon! Our 5yr old has them as school and loves them so we were considering buying a pack for them both to share.

I had a look at those a while ago and was surprised by how expensive they are - usually about 25 for £50.

Don't bother with these wooden "tool kits" that don't do anything. Get a Brio construction kit or two and he can actually build with them. My 3 year old loves his and we're getting a second set for his Christmas.

Tadpolecat · 16/10/2024 20:33

Mine will be 3 in January.
For him I'm thinking:
Magnatiles
Anything shark or dinosaur related
Sticker books
Playdough sets
Magnetic counting maze
Helmet for scooter
Cardboard car or house to build and colour (hobbycraft)
Kinetic sand
Felt activity book
Yoto cards
Leapfrog leapstart books
Jelly blox
Magnetic blocks

Fupoffyagrasshole · 16/10/2024 20:40

Only experiences in our house usually ! Disney on ice tickets, parents getting us a Merlin pass so we can have lots of great days out for the year!

we have a tonies box she got for her birthday so have asked others for stories for that.

there’ll be some small bits under the tree -
jigsaws / books / playdough etc
