Most Christmassy thing to do in Surrey (west)

Surrey feels huge so not wanting to drag the kids all around the place eg to Reigate, Kingston etc. But in the Surrey Hills kind of vicinity, edging into Hampshire and West Sussex….. any recs? It’s our 10th Xmas since having kids so feel we’ve done everything but also always felt we’re missing something - where are all the truly festive lovely cosy events, or are these only possible with nostalgia and not in the moment?

Wisley Glow is always the same, and busy, and not Christmassy (it’s more rainbowy than Christmassy??) and relies on OK weather

Cowdray in Midhurst Xmas light trail was brilliant so might look into that again

Watercress line round trip looks good 🚂 ?

Went to see Santa at Painshill years ago, he was in the crystal grotto, don’t think they do it in there anymore!

Not really sure what I’m looking for other than to ask, what nice, festive days out or events have you got planned in the area? We’re not going away at all so want to book some nice things to make the period different to our everyday!

Friends have been to the Christmas event at Wakehurst and enjoyed it.

Watercress line sounds good.

We are doing Lapland UK but £££ and booked months ago. I love Wisley glow. There are lots of other light trails around. Hampton Court?

Another option? They also do midweek Christmas jumper day races. (Not even here, just googling around)

Polesden Lacey is lovely at Christmas , not overly commercial but beautifully decorated .

Wyld’s Farm at Liss (Hampshire but in the right vicinity just off the A3) is fabulous for cutting your own Christmas tree plus they have various events. I haven’t been on the Watercress Line but have seen it, it looks great and people I know who have been on it say its good. Expensive though.

We priced up the various light walks and decided to forego them and do our own version. No lights but a big group of friends, thermos of mulled, mince pies, hot chocolate and lots of excited kids. We're going to Bushy park but Newlands corner is lovely at Christmas.

Nearly passed out when I just saw the price of the watercress line…… £250 for a carriage of 6 seats!!

Newlands Corner - I will explore this, were nearby but haven’t ever actually explored it properly as we just stay around the top, I think you’re meant to descend down the hill??

Polesden Lacey a good shout too, we went to an amazing immersive Xmas trail Santa thing there a few years ago.

Will look up the others thank you!

Was also going to suggest Polesdon Lacey.

This is good - a friend went last night with her boy and had a ball - not Christmas though.
Hollycombe

Getting our Christmas tree from Oxenford Farm in Elstead is a tradition for us.

Haslemere Christmas market is on 1st December this year.

Godalming has its light switch on 24th November I think. They were donated to the town by The Holiday movie.

@Goldalminggirl were neighbours 😂 Oxenford every year for us! 🙋🏻‍♀️ love Hollycombe too, I’ll see if they have anything festive.

@PheasantPlucker24 There’s bound to be a few of us on here 😂 I did wonder if you were my friend - she’s been known to pluck her own pheasants - but her kids are much younger than yours!

You can park in the main car park and do a circular walk admiring the views. There's a cafe and sometimes a pop up Christmas tree farm in the car park. If you want a picturesque glass of wine, go into Shere.
