Loveee this board and am a huge Christmas head 🎄

What do you all have 'around' in terms of treats and sweets during the Christmas period and how do you make it work?

I have a designated sideboard which I tend to fill with Pringles/fancy flavoured crisps, brownies and gingerbread men from Konditor, any chocolates we're given, Terrys exploding candy minis, Club oranges and almond slices. Although I'm pretty happy with this haul, I fancy mixing it up a little this year! What are your go-tos?

We bake brownies and cookies, usually have mince pies, chocolate, crisps, nuts, cheese, crackers.

@Karmaisac4t yummmmm 😋 We also bake Christmas bits a few weeks prior, but honestly they don't make it as far as the sideboard 😂

I'd love to do a fully homemade treat sideboard one day

Matchmakers, turkish delight, ferrero rocher, stollen, clementines and marzipan fruits for us.

@crochetmonkey74 okay this is now going to be a lifelong dream I can tell!

@Forgottenmyphone I haven't had marzipan fruit in SO LONG! 😋

We use our garden table covered in a Christmas tablecloth and a picnic basket. We tend towards savoury snacks like bread sticks, twiglets, cheesy footballs, those tiny cheese biscuits. We gave large packets of crisps etc in the shed.

Following as since I was a child we had Quality Streets/Roses then I continued that since have had my own home and kids. BUT I'm disappointed in the taste of them as well as the price!!

MoneyAndPercentages · 11/10/2024 14:16

@GettingStuffed Sounds idyllic 😋 Will have to find something to line the sideboard this year!

@PumpkinSpicedTea ooooh you've just reminded me, I meant to go to John Lewis this year to get a tin of JUST the strawberry creme Quality Streets as they're the only one I like 😂

We attempt to make, from our own pattern, a gingerbread house that wouldn't pass any building regulations in any fairyland!
But it's fun and a big heap of biscuit and sweets.

PumpkinSpicedTea · 11/10/2024 14:31

@MoneyAndPercentages they're my favourites too! I'm sure you can get pouches or just the Cremes.

This year I was gonna get smaller pouches and put them in bowls alongside other treats but they're not much cheaper 🤦🏻‍♀️ at one point with clubcard I was cheaper buying the tub after all.

Aldi often have a pouch of the strawberry cremes for sale in the run up, I usually limit myself to one but might have to get a couple this year 😅

Our goodies are on the kitchen dresser.

We make a gingerbread house from a kit. Anytime I’ve tried to design my own my ambitions get the better of me. No one likes gingerbread except me and I can’t eat it anymore, but they nibble away at the sweets, and the fence made of chocolate fingers starting discreetly at the back.

We have a chocolate biscuit pudding, covered in maltesers with white chocolate icing and fondant holly.

Under cloches we have mince pies, vanillekipferl, and stained glass biscuits.

There’s a glass bowl of Mozart balls.

There’s a special tin for Christmas cake.

We got a gift of a personalised quality street tin that gets refilled with whatever tubs of sweets we get as presents - no brand loyalty here I’m afraid.

selection boxes get strewn about, usually kept in reaching distance of whatever armchair the owner has established squatters rights in for the holiday.
