ds turns 2 a month before and I’m sure he’s old enough now to get somewhat excited

how do we tell/show him?

We had some lovely Christmas books, that still come out and get read every year (dc 12 & 15 now). They come out ok December 1st and were bedtime stories all season.
eg
Mog’s Christmas
Belle and Boo and the Merry Christmas
A cute book about Lulu - lift the flap type, we had a toilet one and something else, as well as the Christmas one
Jesus’ Birthday Party

Added more each year

Keep it as low key as you can. There’ll be enough excitement without creating more.

Two year olds are still very young and Christmas can be very overwhelming for them, I personally wouldn’t build it up too much just go with the flow a couple of Christmas books to introduce the idea but most two year olds will open one gift want to play with that and refuse to open anything else on Xmas morning.

Too young to ‘get it’ IMO, but will probably enjoy seeing lights, decorated Christmas trees, etc. At 2 3/4 my Gdd1 was just beginning to understand ‘Farmer’ Christmas!

As well as Christmas books from 1 December, I printed out an outline picture of Santa with numbers 1-24 on his beard and each day DD would stick a cotton ball to the date number.

I did some trips to garden centres at that age to look at their Christmas displays, lots of lights and some singing reindeers!
