Dog or cat themed gifts

Before I explain my plight, can I say that I'm aware it's entirely self-inflicted and a tradition I should never have started!

So, in our family we have a tradition of the cats and dogs giving the dc a gift under the Christmas tree that is cat or dog themed. My dm used to do this for me, and I loved it and passed it on, and it was great for a few years when the dc were little and there were lots of options. The gifts have to be badly wrapped with crumpled paper and some animal fur stuck in the sellotape, and we insist the pets bought and wrapped the gift themselves.

The dds are now 11 and 13 and I need ideas for gifts! Stupid as it is, I don't want to stop. So, any thoughts?

Thanks!

This is such a cute idea, I love the badly wrapped element, so adorable!

Ive had stuff from here before, it’s not super cheap but the personalised stuff is nice…

The Dogs Trust offer dog themed items in their shops and Cats protection have a catalogue. This is a lovely shop in York but obviously if you are not local then P&P might be a bit too much.

You can get Ben & Jerry's ice cream for dogs, so maybe a tub of this and a tub of the stuff for humans? Would have to be kept in the freezer though!

A cushion with the pets' photo on.

I have bought a Where's Wally? equivalent book (Where's (dog's name)?) before now from yappy.com. You just pick the caricature of the dog, or cat, that looks most like yours.

A Radley purse.

PJs with dogs and cats on.

Last Christmas I got a wall calendar with 12 of my favourite pics of my ddogs on. Actually made me cry!! You could add funny captions to each pic!

I'm trying to choose between one of these for my DD

The Exploding Kittens card game immediately springs to mind. Also, Dunelm have a whole load of cat themed items at the moment, including hand warmers, oversized hoodie, blanket etc…

Maybe a calendar with dogs/cats photos? Check out Shutterfly or try one of the calendar making apps if you want to design your own thing. Could be a bigger wall one or a smaller desk one.

I'm eyeing up this book for my daughter!

You can get personalised socks (all colours) with pictures of pets on. I'm trying to think where mine were from - might be Yappy but I'm sure Google would find them.

Haha, I do this as well along with badly wrapped presents and a gift tag with atrocious spelling! This year dd is getting Cat Monopoly and ds cat Lego. They are 22 and 20 so it never stops Grin

This, there’s usually an ‘dogalogue’ online. 🐶

The grandparents’dogs are also generous gift buyers here!

Last year they bought a lovely board game for the DC to share where you are a dog Walker and get points for walking dogs in the park.
It is called Dog Park, I think. Tube illustrations on the cards are lovely.

In the past they have also bought dog themed pjs, mugs, dog iq tests, Christmas jumpers, a make your own dog treats set, diaries, journals, calendars. Various books with doggy heroes. A Lego set once that could be a dog or a cat depending on how you made it.

One thing that went down VERY well was a set of cards with droll quips on them that you put next to the dog and photo them with it, so it is like they are saying it. Sorry, I haven’t explained that very well. But DC absolutely loved it.
