Stocking fillers for octogenarian?

My MIL is staying with us for Christmas. In previous years I've filled her stocking with items including: socks, a book, nice biscuits for cheese, playing cards with a picture of her dog on them...

I'm running out of ideas this year so any inspiration welcome!

She's practical, likes things she will use, doesn't eat sugar, has a bathroom full of bubble bath etc. We will be taking her on a cold weather holiday immediately after Christmas so perhaps something useful for that (she has many hats/gloves)

Different flavoured/herbal tea bags

Scratch card

Quiz book and pen

Hand warmers

Little box of sugar free mints

If you're going to a cold weather place what about really decent hand cream and lip salve? Or properly warm socks? The silk ones from Patras are great.

Decent tights?

Face cream?

A travel wallet?

A nice luggage tag?

Depends on the 80-year old really. My mum is 82 and not an 'old lady' in dress or outlook. What she likes might not suit others through!

No my MIL isn't either! She gets very offended if anyone refers to her as a granny. She's very active with dog walking and card games

A couple of years ago, I got a Where’s Wally? type book called Where’s [the dog’s name]? with a representation of the dog in the pictures. Not very practical, but it was fun and a bit unusual.

Glasses case. I have one with Paddington Bear on which I love!

Bag of her favourite nuts/trail mix if she doesn’t do sugar.

Packet of those seeds that you are just meant to scatter and they grow into random flowers that attract bees.

A piece of fruit was traditional years ago - something like a pomegranate or a mango feels gift-like.

Expensive nuts - macadamia/pistachio/wasabi peas. Small treat jars e.g truffle oil/sauce/exotic marinades. Heritage tomato seeds.Buy the stuff that you would like to be gifted.

Following as I’ve done one for my MiL (DH drops it off Christmas Eve) for the last 7 years. She cried when I first did it, it was the first time she had one since childhood.
Previously included: mini Prosecco, hand cream, Christmas dec, tea towel with kids faces on (school fundraiser) note cards, calendar of a particular dog breed, fancy poo bags for said dog, bird seed/treats as she feeds them all year round, Christmas tea tea bags, potted bulbs.

She doesn’t want ‘stuff’ and is quite picky about food so it gets harder every year!

My elderly neighbour will not open a bottle of wine just for herself so I buy her the small bottles of Prosecco and small bottles of white and red and the pinks in a van for summer - went down well

Maybe a bit expensive but the Uniqlo ultra light down gilets that squash into a tiny drawstring bag are great. Handy and light to carry when you are out, light enough to wear as an extra layer under a coat or in the house on a chilly day.

🤣 she'd never had a stocking before in her life until she had Christmas with us so I think she knows! But she does enjoy them!

I am almost her age and have just discovered Aran diffusers courtesy of MNet. They ate so fresh and I have asked for soap and handcream from my kids
