oh my goodness, girls, you are crazy
i do love the christmas bonanza, the religious one and the decorations one
bought my first Christmas tree decoration from Albert hall - dark red velvet heart with gold embroidery recently

kept one golden tinsel garland form last year in the living on the wall with the windows, anytime there was grey sky, that garland sparkled ever so sweet and cheerful

bringslight · 05/10/2024 12:50

didnt know you can scroll through thread galleries on here, makes it more like facebook
we should post more pictures to make this place more beautiful and cheerful

bringslight · 05/10/2024 12:54

Well no...we're not crazy. And not 'girls' either, for that matter.

There is nothing 'crazy' about this thread.

Thanks Deck. I was just popping back to catch up and thought I'd wandered into a parallel universe!

Hope everyone is having a good day. Sun shining here. Thanks for the well wishes. Will be a few days before we know what's wrong with Dad.

Just been to see my Mum and showed her Nigel's pantry vid on Instagram. She loves him too - and Nigella - at one point, some years ago she declared they would make a lovely couple...

Sending bright but calming vibes to you all

They're a bit underbaked but I know some people think there's no such thing!

They look delightfully squidgy. Brownies should always be squidgy.

This reminds me of when I had my café. It was chocolate themed, and I was famed locally for my Brownies. A couple I didn't know came in one day and the woman had a brownie with her coffee. My mother came looking for me in the kitchen and whispered that there was a man with a complaint. Apparently he said, his wife said the brownie wasn't quite cooked properly.

I took a total Gordon Ramsay style tantrum and told them they wouldn't know what a proper brownie was if it hit them on the arse. Blush

Hehe @RainbowZebraWarrior that image made me chuckle.

Bimblesalong · 05/10/2024 14:34

Hehe RZW love that!! Mmmm it’s reminded me that I had a huge box of gluten free brownies delivered to dh for his birthday. Wonder if he would spare me a corner …

Greetings to all - checking in for the new thread. Spending the day sorting out my mum’s borders in glorious sunshine (not looking very autumnal at all and very warm to boot) - such a joy after being restricted to window boxes chez moi. Racing through ATF - I had thought I would save it until I got home, but I can’t resist though it’s definitely something to read over and over again.

Sorry meant to add: Nigel’s pantry vid ❤️💕 thanks for the tip off @RainbowZebraWarrior (hope your dad is OK).

RainbowZebraWarrior · 05/10/2024 15:34

Oh! Nigel's latest post on Insta is just wonderful. What a fabulous human being he is. (It's also nice to be finally catching up)

Bubblesbythesea · 05/10/2024 15:47

Checking in to the new thread, and sending warm wishes to @RainbowZebraWarrior - you’ve certainly had a week of it; hope you have a restful weekend to recover, and that things go well with your Dad. Have been reading about Nigel’s preference for plain, salted crisps; these are definitely my favourites, so was feeling very smug and VN - until thinking about it, I realised that he probably eats his from a beautifully crafted bowl, whereas I eat them straight from the packet. Oh dear, NVN after all. Note to self: Must Do Better!!!

Bubblesbythesea · 05/10/2024 15:52

Putting my new resolution into practice!

A chocolate themed café! Oh my God! 😍 Oh people can be so ridiculous, can't they? I bet your brownies were delicious! I used to run a food van and sometimes people had extremely odd complaints...

My mood is a bit up and down this weekend, partly because I feel hopeless about finding the right house to buy. We've been looking for so long and I'm so desperate to move. But some positives today have been: a Waitrose shop for treats, bought my nephew his birthday and Christmas present, dropped off some brownies for my parents, practised Christmas carols on the piano (I've started using the organ preset so it sounds like I'm in a church 😂) and now more hand-sewing in front of cosy YouTube videos. (Evidence below).

Hope everyone else is feeling okay. ☺️

Looks like a lovely garden to work in!

Beautiful day here in the SE too. Popped into a local farmshop for pickling onions and bramley apples yesterday, the onions are bow salting and the apples are slowly caramelising in the oven with some brown sugar and cinnamon, the kitchen felt lovely and cosy. I had to go shopping in the nearby city and have stopped at the local NT place for a stroll and cuppa in the sunshine, it feels a bit weird being here without the DC as we used to come here all the time when they were younger.

@TheOnlyMrsW It's not quite the same as the others but we nipped in Primark yesterday for dd2 and I somehow ended up buying this similar bit smaller mind glass... They had it in a dark green too 🍷

I thought they might be nice mix & matched in sizes and colours but similar enough to still go.

@ExquisiteIyDecorated beautiful photo 😊

Love that glass!

Autumnorganising · 05/10/2024 16:54

😂@RainbowZebraWarrior remind me not to annoy you.
@lucysmam nice glasses 😀
@LillianGish. Snap! Our garden isn’t looking very autumnal yet. No real leaf drop. The hydrangeas are only starting to change colour and the fig tree’s 2nd crop are still growing. That’s not supposed to happen in the UK. We had a bumper crop of grapes this year. No idea what to do with them as they have pips.

Autumnorganising · 05/10/2024 16:56

…..quite large for a 2nd crop

Lovely photos and descriptions. I’m on a simple temporary side quest of knitting which needs no great thought (the type that colour work would need). An attempt at a foray out has reminded me to take it steady and make the most of my cosy sitting room!

A supper of warming lentil soup and sourdough awaits.

This popped up on my socials, as a lover of ballet and all things Monty and Nigel, I’d like to share:

Autumnorganising · 05/10/2024 17:24

@Bimblesalong what a wonderful, soothing video. Beautiful garden.

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 05/10/2024 17:28

The glass is lovely @lucysmam
i spent the day cleaning my parents house. They have both had healthy issues recently and are getting older.
but we did manage lunch out at a lovely pizza place and a walk in the sun, I’ve never been to Kirkby Lonsdale on a sunny day and it’s fabulous, although the shop I wanted to go to had closed 🙁
