Thanks, Bimbles and Deck. I am lucky in that I do have the luxury of having the time and focus right now, so I will be pleased to host if everyone else is happy with that.

Unless anyone else steps forward with a burning desire, I will create the thread on Wednesday morning and link here.

That would be great @RainbowZebraWarrior if you don't mind? Your effort is very much appreciated x

(You have done a great job too @HannahDefoesChristmasHamper! 💐 Don't want to cause any ruckus in our lovely group. 😆 )

Definitely a ruckus free corner of MN ❤️

YAY! @HebeMumsnet THANK YOU SO MUCH!🙏

Waves to lovely ruckus free folks. I've been locked out of the thread, but following. So nice to be back in this friendly safe corner, where I can dare to focus on the little things that give pleasure regardless of the big things and no one's going to suggest I need to be focusing on the more problematic stuff all the time.

PS I've just received my £2 Adam Frost book, if anyone else is waiting, and also ordered some VMS ('very my sort', as opposed to possible VN) of seeds at affordable prices from the Kew link, Thank you so much RZW! Sorry you're having a rough time, I've also not been having the best time from several different directions to put it nicely, and it's the little things that have been making a rotten time more bearable.

Welcome back @EphemeraleEudemonia! 🍁🌾🍂🍁🌾🍂🍁🌾🍂

Thank you so much for offering to continue the CC thread @RainbowZebraWarrior, I’m so looking forward to following this lovely friendly thread, your efforts will be very much appreciated. @Bimblesalong your knitting is beautiful, lovely even stitches, that jumper is going to be amazing.

Crystalbits · 21/10/2024 18:35

I’m not vegan but Meera Sodha in the Guardian has done some great autumnal ones.
Just made an Iraqi white bean stew (might be from a few years ago actually) which was delicious and not that finicky or full of obscure ingredients. Just had it before my night shift tonight with some flatbread.

Nigel’s column is great too.

Wow @Bimblesalong that jumper is beautiful so far! Love it. I'm knitting socks at the moment. Will post a pic when they're done or a bit further along!

@RainbowZebraWarrior It sounds like you do a great job of these threads (it's my first year) so I agree that it'd be much appreciated if you "host" again. ☺️🙏

I’m happy to step in if you need a hand @RainbowZebraWarrior. I’m back from Burgundy later this week ready to plunge into the intro. Lovely walk along the Loire today, the highlight of which was watching a colony of beavers quite literally beavering away. The river is higher than I’ve ever seen it after all the rain we’ve had, but it was 22 degrees today - so warm as summer right into the evening. Some fantastic Halloween/autumn decorations around town

This corner of MN is definitely ruckus free and such a haven! I'm loving all the photographs! I went out for a birthday lunch today with a group of close friends. One of our number sadly died a few weeks back and a friend had brought along a photograph of him to put on the table so that he could still be with us. It made us a bit teary, but we all agreed it was a great idea so we're going to carry on doing it.

legosnowqueen · 22/10/2024 07:13

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior looking forward to the new thread.

A rainy morning here in Yorkshire today but Saturday was glorious & we had a lovely autumnal walk in our local nature reserve...

Ordered our turkey breast & trimmings from our local butcher last week & picked up a copy of the Booths Christmas book so am feeling in the zone...

Been AWOL from the thread for a few days, nice catching up. Thank you for offering to “host” the CC threads @RainbowZebraWarrior much appreciated. I have offered to host another long running and equally lovely thread next month (Flylady housekeeping for anyone that’s interested) and I know it can be quite time consuming (but rewarding). I have my copy of CC ready and waiting.

Had a lovely day out on Saturday catching some autumn colours at an arboretum. Then on Sunday, when it was stormy I had two hours volunteering at a local beauty spot, wading in a river in the pouring rain (more fun than it sounds), there were golden leaves pouring down off the trees, very dramatic.

I made that delicious sour cherry granola - thank you to the poster who shared it . My kitchen was covered in oats afterwards though it looked like a stable Smile

UnimaginableWindBird · 22/10/2024 10:24

I've got a horrible chesty virus and am off work sick today, snuggled under a heated throw but very much enjoying all your photographs. My culinary efforts today will involve making chicken stock and then turning it into soup. Between that and Dal, my instant pot comes in very handy when I'm not feeling well.

Bimblesalong · 22/10/2024 10:32

gentle squeeze for @Confusedmeanderings that is hard but sounds a lovely way to keep his memories alive.

yay to @EphemeraleEudemonia back to the safe ruckus free corner.

Hoping all who are under the weather have a cosy nook and are improving.

I’ve been for my pre assessment which was disgustingly early but involved a drive whilst the mists were lifting from the fields against a backdrop of blue skies. All very positive and matter of fact. I shall take the ruckus free spirit with me tomorrow.

Today is a good walk and soup making.

Superworm24 · 22/10/2024 10:57

I'm excited for the threads. Thank you to everyone who keeps them going!

@UnimaginableWindBird I hope you feel better soon. I adore our instant pot and have made so much soup in it.

piscofrisco · 22/10/2024 13:10

I too am greatly looking forward to the read along threads :)! Thankyou @RainbowZebraWarrior it's so appreciated. A beautiful day here and a puppy that woke up with one across him as my Dad would say, so I bundled all
Three dogs in the car and took them to Sharpenhoe Clappers which is a wood atop a hill near us, and had a lovely hour and a half crunching the leaves and enjoying the wind in our faces. It's lovely watching the Puppy experience his first Autumn. He had to be carried away from a deep pile of beech leaves in the end. We all feel the better for it.

I found having a lovely drive to all those hospital appointments helped my mental health @Bimblesalong . I have to drive over the top of a range of hills where there are wild ponies to get to the hospital. I loved looking out for them, especially in the Spring when there were foals.
Beautiful photographs @legosnowqueen and @ExquisiteIyDecorated . @piscofrisco I love the thought of your puppy having to be carried away from the piles of leaves! He looks very cute. My cat, Muldoon, now sneaks on to my lap at every opportunity, not because he loves me, but because he's taking advantage of the body heat 🤣🤣
I run a monthly antiques fair in Dunster so today I have been out putting up advertising signage ready for Sunday. We always stop for lunch after the signs are out. There's a lovely cafe in the village in the old schoolroom, with an old tree with a thick canopy in a courtyard with tables and umbrellas. We like to sit at a table under the tree, it's really sheltered and even if it's raining you stay dry.

Just to add to the thread gallery - DH and I went out for a coffee earlier and came back down the canal towpath and then later I went on an errand through the park. All very pleasingly autumnal. Now home making bread.
