What do I want for Christmas?.

Early I know but I've started being asked for ideas. Budget £50 and I can't really think of much I need that isn't boring. It needs to be a an actual gift rather than vouchers or an experience as it's a secret santa type thing.

I'm 42 if it's relevant.

I just want a peaceful, quiet, happy Christmas. That's it for me 🙂 (I'm 40) 🙂

Massive box of pick and mix lindt

Singleandproud · 29/09/2024 20:51

The new Richard Osman book, the new Deborah Harkness Discovery of witches book, bar or pick n mix lindt, small bottle of JD or Southern Comfort

I have two of these cashmere scarves in different colours and wear them a lot when it’s cold. They are really soft and warm.

Uniqlo cashmere scarf

UNIQLO

A Lytham Festival ticket, and an Imagine Dragons ticket.

Ineffable23 · 29/09/2024 20:59

Ridiculous money for socks, but I love my cashmere socks. I wear them inside my slippers for winter and they are So Warm and So Cosy. It may be Too Boring though.

Fragonard (bigger collection on their website, smaller at M and S) do gorgeous perfumes for a bit less than £50.

Or would you enjoy a favourite book + a favourite tipple + some chocs? Not necessarily exciting but if they're things you wouldn't normally treat yourself too it can be nice.

I guess I tend to think of things I like (so for me: being cosy, reading, tea, cheese, chocolates, lovely smells) and then pick luxurious versions of them that I wouldn't generally buy - so a tin of Fortnums loose leaf tea, or cashmere socks or some really good leather gloves, or fancy pyjamas or whatever.

A cheese subscription
A flower subscription
Vouchers for a nice restaurant or a spa/beauty salon/cafe
Theatre tickets
Cinema vouchers
A new or fancy lamp

If you drink tea/coffee, ask for a stockpile of the brand you love plus a new mug, that way you'll think of the gift giver when you have a cuppa all year.
Posh chocolate/stockpile of cheap chocolate

wafflesmgee · 29/09/2024 21:03

You could combine them all
E.g. find an outfit you really love or a beautiful coat that costs £200 and ask everyone for money towards it, ditto leather handbag/rucksack
If you like getting nails done, ask for vouchers from the same salon from everyone then it adds up to a year's nice nails.
Or combine for a trip away somewhere e.g. the races/charity ball/Christmas market in amsterdam/UK city break

On my list is:

Perfume - I’ve been on the same bottles since 2018 and want a change
Some emerald cut studs (not the real thing alas 😂)
A new everyday dinner set
Clothes
Some L’occitane shower oil and shea butter handcream
A small leather pencil case
Audible subscription

I’m very easy to buy for though as always have a list.

Jo Malone candle

Tulip8 · 29/09/2024 21:38

Some really good ideas, thank-you. Sadly vouchers are off the table as we've all agreed we'll get actual gifts for everyone to open.

I like getting nicer versions of every day things:

Wool socks
Molton brown shower gel
Salon shampoo and conditioner
Hotel chocolat
Elemis moisturiser
A decent candle
Silk pillow case

GettingStuffed · 30/09/2024 10:35

A book voucher, I have lots of books so don't really want books that I haven't pets asked one person for.

DilemmaDelilah · 01/10/2024 19:48

A Lego flower bouquet

I'd choose something that I'd like but wouldn't buy myself

Some stud earrings

A fancy jumper

A Clinique moisturiser set

A new purse

Something that I don't need but want :)

I want a globe - I'm useless at geography but I love looking at a map and zoning in on a tiny island and wondering what it's like .
A proper globe not a flat wall map .

Cielovista · 04/10/2024 13:53

Molton Brown handwash/handcream set or pack of mini shower gels.
John Lewis cashmere scarf
leather gloves

fourelementary · 04/10/2024 14:01

I collected Emma Bridgewater mugs for a while until I had enough for my mug shelf… so I asked for these one year and they make me happy every day.
is there something everyday you could upgrade in a similar way? Or a perfume you fancy?

fallingleavesandhairyknees · 04/10/2024 14:06

A pair of small good hoop earrings.

drspouse · 04/10/2024 18:04

A Yoshi bag.
Duo boots (though they are hugely expensive)
New Robert Galbraith book but I don't think it's coming out in time.
Posh bubble bath.
Book tokens
Pre printed bullet journal and lovely stickers
New thick yoga mat

Xmasbaby11 · 04/10/2024 18:35

For me (48F), I'd like any of these..

some combination of nice hat, scarf and gloves set, though I know matching sets aren't so much a thing now
Emma Bridgewater mug
really nice hot water bottle
luxurious bubble bath
reed diffuser
nice photo album (struggle to find these!)

EveryOtherNameTaken · 04/10/2024 18:45

Pjs or lounge wear to get me to springtime!

Bumblebeesince19 · 04/10/2024 18:46

Hear me out- imagine christmas morning unwrapping your gift. And you are surprised to find your own washing basket? Confused? Because it is empty! And then you go upstairs and everything is ironed and either folded or hung away.
Imagine that! That's what I want for Christmas 😂 I literally think I would cry of happiness!

Foreverexhausted1 · 09/10/2024 08:51

I'm lusting after a pair of hexagon hoop earrings from andotherstories and after watching Jamie Oliver's new show on Monday I now really want the book. I also always love anything with molton salted caramel from Hotel Chocolat 🤤
