What the heck, Ocado? Has the grinch taken over?

Opening day of Ocado Christmas delivery order slots and having woken up early unintentionally, I have managed to swipe a Christmas Eve slot. By 6.15am, they’re sold out of key Christmas things (like al the fresh stuffing / trimmings, lots of frozen stuff. They aren’t doing any of the fancy M& S desserts - in fact overall it looks like M&S have kept their Christmas specials to themselves so customers go direct to their stores. The Christmas cheese selection is piteous. Not a coloured or chantenay carrot to be had.
Im baffled at how bad it is!

they will all be back in stock before christmas

over excitable ocado shoppers

antlead · 26/09/2024 07:00

how is this ocado’s fault?

lazylegumes · 26/09/2024 07:05

It's not all in yet. Book your slot, add some gin or champagne to get to the £90, pray that you remember to replace it before the cut off.

Because they are literally a warehousing business and stock control is a fairly major factor in that. The poor deal with Ocado is I guess because they have failed to meet their sales targets with them.

it’s september op

unravel your pants

everything will come back in stock

lots of over excited ocado shoppers filling their baskets to hit the £90 minimum

simple really

don’t worry… you’ll get your mince pies!

XiCi · 26/09/2024 07:39

Its the same every year, the stock isn't there yet. It's only September. I just checkout with booze to secure the slot then order later.

Aysegull · 26/09/2024 07:46

Is this your first time using Ocado? It will all be in stock soon.

or pray that you forget.

Yup- that's how it works- put some random things in your trolley and sort it all out properly nearer the time. It'll all come into stock.

CharBart · 26/09/2024 08:09

Thank you OP! I’d missed the email on Monday, have been in now and booked my slot! Feels earlier than usual

PortiasBiscuit · 26/09/2024 08:11

Send your DH in to Tesco at 3am, works for us every year.

redtrain123 · 26/09/2024 08:15

Somehow missed that Christmas slots were now available, so just gone into the website and booked one, so thank you posting.

Vermin · 26/09/2024 10:07

ok - all unclenched. But why do they make us book in September in that case? Wouldn’t it be simpler to book in November / December and know what they actually have?

at this time it’s just about securing the time slot op

it really isn’t hard to understand!

antlead · 26/09/2024 10:26

and no one “makes” you do anything

enormous demand for certain time slots

Is this your first Xmas slot. Because they need to work out their routes and drivers, everyone orders way way more ar crimbo, so you need multiple more vans. The Xmas stock will come. Surely you don’t need to book your actual food in sept. How odd.

celerymunch · 26/09/2024 13:41

I can’t imagine the level of stress you experience in the build up to christmas Op!

RunAwayTurnAwayRunAwayTurnAway · 18/12/2024 17:45

The stock has been rubbish this year! So many things are out of stock!
