Loved that tree, very funny.

Had a busy day getting remaining decs and lights up and filling one week of advent pouches plus the usual dirge of washing, vacuuming etc. Impressed that you've been painting Fluffy.

Knackered now, think I'll be having a festive glass of prosecco and maybe a christmas movie.

Magnoliasunrise · 30/11/2024 18:47

Oh and the snowman loo roll is out - very nearly forgot about it!!

NoWordForFluffy · 30/11/2024 18:50

No painting happened! I did clean the kitchen, and went to town to pick up some pyjamas for the kids from M&S. I haven't achieved much. 🤣

Our snowman loo roll is in two loos, but we're not putting it in the en suite as visitors never go in there.

I have the Dec 1st Boxes / Bags ready to go .
Just washing the Christmas handtowels
Shower curtain ready to go up .
Christmas straws are out
The Snowman Loo Roll ready to go out .
Change our pillowcases for the festive ones ( robins ) and the cushions for the Christmas ones
Put on the Christmas oilcloth tablecover .

DD,DH and I went up to the Serial Killer Exhibition -our lovely festive day out Xmas Grin . So many of them had toxic relationships with their own Mothers , a theme there ...
Then a jaunt along to Uniqlo for DD and home .

Tomorrow I;ll be doing a big vegetarian brunch ( a progression of the North Pole Breakfast ) toast , beans, vegetarian sausage and bacon, eggs , hash browns if I have any . Coffee and orange juice .

Then a tidy round , vacuum, clean the downstairs loo .

Pinch/Punch First of the Month

The lazy young adults are still snoozing or pretending to be asleep so they don't have to interact with me at what they would call an unholy hour .
Cats are up, fed, gone out, come in.

I have pizza dough in the breadmaker for later then once our food delivery is here , I;ll start on our Dec 1st Brunch .

DD wants to watch "Love Actually" and "Muppets Christmas Carol" today .

NoWordForFluffy · 01/12/2024 10:40

It chucked it down here overnight, and was bloody windy again. There were epic puddles this morning for the dog walk / run, which FluffyDog loved!

It's glorious sunshine now, for a while, so the washing is going out and the house is warming nicely as a result.

I'm about to start cleaning the bathrooms etc, as we're off out to eat at 2, so I need to get shit done ASAP! 🤣

The wreath may finally get put on the door today (it's been laying on the back garden path since being made, so it gets watered and doesn't die), as the wind is dropping and the over-door hook is coming from Amazon.

I sent DH up into the loft to get the Christmas stuff I needed , cushions, door wreath, throw that has been around since my DS was 2yo ( ahh)

I have rather too many Christmas Jumpers for a grown adult Xmas Blush though IMD (In My Defence) some are sequinny or sparkle-ey rather that full on Christmas .
I will wash them and wear them over December ....'cos I can .

NoWordForFluffy · 01/12/2024 21:37

Ooh. You've just reminded me about the cushions, 70! Must get them out!

Very busy day yesterday so we didn't get the decs up.

DH is going up into the Massacre of the Rats lift before he goes to work this morning.

I wrestled with the idea of putting up the decs alone whilst everyone is at work and school.
But when I thought about it, recent years have really only involved me.

It's hard to let go of the "magic years" when the DCs were smaller...
although they were very pleased with their advent calendars yesterday.

MonkeyTennis34 · 02/12/2024 07:45

The Massacre of the Rats lift would make a good horror film 😂

He's going up into the LOFT.

Hairgician · 02/12/2024 10:14

Got all the trees and decs up on saturday. Finished tidying/hoovering yesterday. Christmas tablecloth on and batteries into all the light up bits aswell.
Then I made a roast dinner and it felt really christmassy with the smells and christmas music on radio. Love it!

Bloody elf had to come back too. Had him stashed away but DC asking about him.🙄

Morning!

I don't fancy a rats' lift, Monkey! 🤣🤣 Excellent typo.

I've changed radio station to listen to while I'm working today, in my bid to avoid Wham. Xmas Grin I'm on Classic FM instead of either Absolute or Radio One Anthems (can highly recommend the latter if you've eclectic taste!).

I'm very glad we never started with the bloody elf!

Morning everyone! I've got all my christmas jumpers washed and ready to wear too.

Fluffy I was out of Whamaggedon on Dec 1st last year so I'm already doing better this year!

NoWordForFluffy · 02/12/2024 10:35

So was I, @Webbb. I think the latest I've gone is about 16 Dec!

Magnoliasunrise · 02/12/2024 16:48

What was Whamageddon? Sounds exiting.

Fluffy your wreath looks lovely - saw it on the pontastic thread. I'm making one in a class on Saturday.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/12/2024 18:32

You've not heard of Whamageddon Magnolia?! Xmas Shock

I think my wreath needs more colour really, but it'll do!

WHAMAGEDDON

Avoid 'Last Christmas'. Join the fun. Last until Christmas. Become the envy of your friends and family. Enjoy being a Christmas grinch.

I haven't played Whamageddon but I did hear it on Saturday off Oxford Street on one of those bikes taxi thingies that are covered in lights . But that was 30th so Game On

DD is out , she heard it today .
I am listening out for Fairytale of New York
Caveat being :
Must be Pogues'n'Kirsty not Ronan Keating
Must be the unsanitised sweary version.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/12/2024 19:18

I should be safe from Christmas Music as I only have LBC on.
But DH might put Christmas TOTP or 100 Christmas Hits on Gold .....

NoWordForFluffy · 02/12/2024 19:22

It was one of those bike taxi things which did for my SiL last year, 70!

I've got to go to the office tomorrow, so hopefully I dodge it. But I'm giving blood at lunch time and they have the radio on, so I may be punished for doing a good deed!

Magnoliasunrise · 02/12/2024 19:29

How hilarious - never heard of it, where have I been all my life? I'm still in although I listen to Radio 2 so i suspect it wont be long.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/12/2024 19:31

My friend was knocked out by Jeremy Vine today, so you're on borrowed time! 🤣

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/12/2024 19:44

I've been shopping today but managed to avoid it. Long may it last.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 02/12/2024 20:41

Intrigued by your radio recommendations Fluffy. I avoid the radio most of the time but R1 especially - is there a lot of drivel presenter chatting on Anthems?

I've never played Whamageddon, mostly because I purposely put on Christmas mixes from December Xmas Grin.
I've been teaching LO some of the songs - driving home for Christmas is the favourite so far.
Have also been introducing Christmas films. Snowman and SnowDog are in the lead but Grinch and Muppets Christmas Carol are close behind - I think it's because they have a lot of music Xmas Smile

Ronan Keating did a Fairytale of NY version 70? 😱 Sounds awful!

Panic has reduced a bit as I basically pushed DHs family gifts back to him.
Usually the deal is that I do gifts and he does all the food but as we're not here for dinner this year I felt this was only fair and I've never been so short on time or so stressed about it before. Luckily he's happy enough with it so I'm almost done.

Am ploughing on with my cross stitch card but not at all sure it'll be done on time at the rate!

NoWordForFluffy · 02/12/2024 20:46

God no, Meeces, not much drivel talking really. It's just loads of great music from the 90s onwards, I think (I definitely heard Britney Spears the other day!).

The Snowman and Snowdog is a great film. DS adored it as a toddler. The drummer from Muse was involved with the soundtrack! #christmastrivia

Morning!

Wa watched a Christmas film last night and I'm ashamed to say it was Elf and I'm even more ashamed to say I laughed a few times.

It was DS choice. I suggested Die Hard and DS said it wasn't a Christmas film!!!! He's definitely not allowed on the thread - he also pointed out its an 18 so not really suitable for DD 😂, I'm glad someone is parenting in this house.
