It was quite an eyeopener Meeces , I do like to have duplicates of things ( 2 ice cream scoops , 2 tea strainers -used for gravy not tea !, 2 spiral whisks )

I had 3 silicone brushes don't know where the 3rd one appeared from so it got recycled .
I sorted out some spatulas and recycled a couple then put things in the dishwasher ,.
Removed about a hundred free range cocktail sticks and cleaned the drawer then put everything in a semblance of neat order .

I'm not decorating for Hallowe'en this year as I;ll be away for a couple of days . My DD wanted some black nail polish so I found some (best time of year to Xmas Grin ) she has beautiful hands and nails so can wear dark colours and look elegant .

Morning!

Shhhh, I have a headache! 😬😩🤣 Cracking day / night yesterday. Had a little happy cry at my friend's wedding! 🥰

On a similar but different note, my body cannot tolerate me drinking alcohol anymore. There's apparently no 'safe' amount I can drink to avoid a hangover. This seems rather harsh, IMO! I drank loads of water while I was out yesterday to counter the alcohol, but still have a hangover. Peri strikes again with a new symptom?!

We're going out for breakfast a bit later on, which I'm looking forward to. 😋 Then train home at 2.

Meeces, wooden kitchens are brilliant. DC will love it. I don't know when their birthday is, but a mud kitchen outside can also be fun!

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 27/10/2024 21:37

Pinkki that's my plan - rather than being overloaded with stuff we don't need, I'm requesting some food, pots, pans, utensils, plates etc for the kitchen.

Fluffy We are desperately attempting to avoid a mud kitchen because I'm pretty sure he'll use it to collect bugs but feel we may end up with one in spring.

I have made some Christmas progress today - I've ordered the wooden kitchen and decided what one niece is getting (a Spirograph and a little pamper kit that I'll make).

Am also doing my dm and sisters shopping for DH by ordering him socks and slippers from M&S as per tradition Xmas Grin

58!
List making begins in earnest today. I am looking for an organiser for my utensil drawer. I am currently having fun matching lids to boxes to organise my Tupperware collection!

BiddyPop · 28/10/2024 12:07

I was hoping by I could put up the video but MN doesn't seem to allow that and I didn't take any photos - but I now know the best way to put up the lights for your Christmas trees...cherry pickers🤣. There were a couple of those and a few other vans in the square below me late last night, covering all the trees.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/10/2024 14:40

Afternoon!

Constantly, I need to sort my utensil drawers out. Might tell DH to do it this afternoon! 🤣

I made pastry for mince pies this morning, but ran out of time to make the pies themselves. I'll make them when I get home from Liverpool, as I'm taking DS to the River of Light, via the Lego shop and JL's Christmas dept! I'm taking DD tomorrow as it's more pleasant for everyone if they go separately! 🙄

Wooden kitchen is a great gift @NoCheesesForUsMeeces!

Horrible afternoon for us. Driving home from the cinema and without indicating a van just pulled into my lane. On my left was a lorry. Thankfully DS and I unharmed and the van driver unharmed. Car damaged though so now heading home in a taxi.

TheWoollybacksWife · 28/10/2024 18:00

Oh my goodness Hoping. Glad you and your DS are physically unharmed. What a shock.

BiddyPop · 28/10/2024 20:12

I hope you're home with a good hot cup of tea now Hoping,

NoWordForFluffy · 28/10/2024 20:26

Oh goodness, Hoping. I'm so glad you're OK.

You may find you start to hurt tomorrow once the adrenaline has worn off and your body's had time to think about it.

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/10/2024 20:53

Oh Hoping what a shock ! Glad you and DS are unscathed .
Hopefully you'll get the repairs done to your motor quickly and the insurance won't drag it out . (I'm guessing the van drivers insurance will be covering it ? )

Magnoliasunrise · 28/10/2024 22:29

How awful for you both Hoping. Fingers crossed for a good night's sleep and easy repair job. X

Hopingforno2in2024 · 29/10/2024 06:12

Thanks all :) Have slept well and feel ok this morning. Should hear from the garage later. Need to sort out a new car seat for DS.

Forgot to mention that I have managed to do a chunk of online Christmas shopping which has begun to arrive so that is exciting :) Need to feed the Christmas cake today as well.

I'm glad you're feeling ok, Hoping. That's really good news. Hopefully your car gets sorted ASAP too.

I'm taking DD to Liverpool today, after taking DS yesterday. Easier to divide and conquer!

ConstantlyCooking · 29/10/2024 08:09

Pleased you are both ok Hoping. That sounds really stressful.
Enjoy your Liverpool trips Fluffy. DGD and I explored the John Lewis Christmas department yesterday. She was enchanted by the pink trees and enjoyed judging which baubles were least christmassy.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/10/2024 09:13

I spent a fortune on baubles in JL, Constantly. I got a beautiful pink glitter ball one! DS managed to smash a Santa on a motorbike accidentally too. They were lovely about it, thankfully.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 29/10/2024 10:19

Glad you and DS are ok. Car crashes are scary. Thank goodness no side effects today.

I accidentally bought my daughter another Christmas present the other day. Tik Tok shop is dangerous.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/10/2024 14:15

I have a mental list of stuff to get people still. It's mostly just bits and bobs really. DS was eyeing up the yard of Oreo's in Home Bargains earlier, so I shall go back for those when he's not with me.

I need to replace the Lego set he was desperate for and bought off me yesterday! (He wanted to buy it in the Lego shop, but we had it in the garage, bought for £15 less, so I said he could buy it!) So, back to the Lego shop with DD today to see what they have! 🤣

Magnoliasunrise · 29/10/2024 14:27

I've just bought 2 of the 1m boxes of jaffa cakes in Aldi funnily enough!! Think they had them in Home Bargains too. I'm guessing they're a metre, look very long!!

Glad all OK Hoping.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/10/2024 14:41

Hmmm. I bet DS would've wanted Jaffa cakes if he'd seen those!

I am in The Twitch Territory , I need to buy gift box for DD (TKMaxx are a good stomping ground for this ) and then apart from a selection box , I have bought all DDs presents . I ordered a stacking ring for her as this is her thing at the moment .
DS December !st box just needs some more socks (exciting stuff ehXmas Grin ) and a selection box for him.

I've ordered a velvet blazer for myself , well if you cannot wear velvet at Christmas when can you ?

When I'm on the train on Thursday I can spend my time productively Writing Lists .

Hopingforno2in2024 · 30/10/2024 07:06

Morning all

I still have lots of buying to do so nowhere near twitch territory. Quite a few presents arrived yesterday so I feel I have made a good start at least.

No car means I am currently very limited, very annoying as it is half term and it would be good to be out and about with DS. Yesterday we baked some cookies and went for a walk but he mostly entertained himself with his toys in his room and his audio books. I might set up a film watch today with popcorn etc.

ConstantlyCooking · 30/10/2024 07:48

56 I am really behind this year and half term is speeding by. The SC are adults and somewhat reluctant to say what they want!

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 30/10/2024 09:13

Checking in from the zombie bench this morning. LO has an upset stomach so we've been up every 2hrs ish and up for the day at 5:30.
Luckily we have a chilled day planned - just a walk this morning and possible park this afternoon (will see how they are and decide later).
Both me and DH are blurry eyed still 😂

I've got baskets of shopping/wishlists set up on various sites. Am waiting for the local Santa scheme to start (you buy presents for children who wouldn't necessarily get any) - once I've got my kids from that I'll add their stuff and order everything over a day or so.
Then it'll just be a case of picking up bits for LO, finding something for DH as we don't usually buy for each other then hiding it all until my wrapping evening (which may be split across a few evenings this year) Xmas Smile

Glad you're feeling ok hoping. Accidents like that can be scary - I hope your DS has shaken it off ok.

ConstantlyCooking · 30/10/2024 09:46

SC should be DC
