I think we had 12 threads during lockdown if I recall.

Thanks @NoWordForFluffy

Just place marking. I’m just starting to think about Christmas. My m dds birthday is at the beginning of October, then I’ll be in full Christmas swing

MonkeyTennis34 · 25/09/2024 15:38

Thanks for new thread!

@NoCheesesForUsMeeces I love that image!

Bruce Willis...meh.
Muppets Christmas Carol...meh.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 25/09/2024 15:40

I've been buying bits and pieces over the last few weeks - now I can hardly get into the loft room. My big problem is that I keep seeing wonderful things that will be perfect - but all for the same one person. Whose pile is now immense and nothing for anyone else..

MonkeyTennis34 · 25/09/2024 15:40

Ross Kemp as Scrooge!

Yes, it's a thing and yes, it's a classic (sort of) Christmas film.

Find it on YouTube.

You're very welcome.

Deffo Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness time of year

TheWoollybacksWife · 25/09/2024 18:27

Thanks for the new thread Fluffy

I'm watching out for the Poncetastic thread - it's usually the 25/9 it starts. I'd start it myself but I really don't have the patience to keep a long thread going. I have had a splash of my raspberry gin to mark the occasion though.

MonkeyTennis34 · 25/09/2024 18:28

@70isaLimitNotaTarget
I too love Last Christmas and also didn't guess the twist.
Love seeing the different London locations.

Lost Christmas looks interesting.

Zevitevitchofcrimas · 25/09/2024 18:38

I'm definitely thinking of Christmas

It's before Eddie Izzard was Suzy .

I don;t think they are as popular now but it's a really good film and one DD and I watch every year .

NoWordForFluffy · 25/09/2024 19:34

He alternates Eddie and Suzy, depending on his 'mode'. 🙄

I won't be watching that one! (Used to bloody love him in the 90s too.)

Thanks for new thread Fluffy.

Was Last Christmas the train one? 🤔

Magnoliasunrise · 25/09/2024 21:26

Ignore me I was thinking of Last Train to Christmas 🙄

NoWordForFluffy · 25/09/2024 22:09

I've ordered our salt marsh beef today. I'll be getting a lamb joint too, to make sure we have enough to go around.

Might order the cheese...

90……… it seems very low now! 🎄🎄🎄

Very jealous of all the lovely shopping that everyone can do on the mainland. Popping into B&M or the Works sounds amazing! Our shops rely on the boats coming in, and in winter they are cancelled a lot in bad weather. Last year I went to M&S a lot, hoping to see the brie and cranberry tartlets restocked, but they never were! I looked over a few weeks. I’m going to buy them the minute they appear, assuming they are selling them this year.

Yesterday at the church hall the knitting group were spending ages sorting a cupboard, and they got the Christmas tree box out whilst sorting. I was going to make a joke about the tree, but thought I better not. Some people have such a strong opinion on not seeing Christmas things too early - three ladies in Waitrose were very offended recently that the Christmas magazines were out. They were stood right in front of them, moaning about it all. 🎄🎅🏻🤶🏻 I still got one!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/09/2024 07:22

Some people are dead weird about Christmas! I'm not a Halloween fan (sorry, 70!), but I can't bring myself to give a shit about stuff in the shops!

I saw a Good Housekeeping Christmas magazine on Saturday. I may splash out this weekend!

My DH is one of those Grinch moany people about Christmas stuff being out early.
Funnily enough he doesn't mind when Easter stuff appears in Jan/Feb. Oh no, when that happens he just starts buying mini eggs 🙄

I've been desperately trying to fight off a migraine today. Have taken 2 sets of medication and am about to drink a full fat Pepsi. Fingers crossed that does it 🤞🏼

Hopingforno2in2024 · 26/09/2024 16:28

I really hope it has kept away @NoCheesesForUsMeeces!

I popped into the garden centre after dropping DH at the train station and now have two big pots with autumn bedding in and some left over for hanging baskets :) I particularly like my ornamental kales :) The garden centre was just in the process of transitioning over to Christmas stuff, a small amount out but lot of boxes and empty shelves.
