Sell out gifts for 2024?

Does anyone have predictions on this year’s sell out toys/gifts?

I’ve been fortune over the years to secure the Wii, Xbox One, Furby, Hatchimal egg, PS5, pregnant guinea pig, Soccorbot etc 😂

Not sure what to go for this year… perhaps the Lego Fortnite bus and Bitzee (interactive pets) that my DC spotted in the new Smyths toy catalogue.

Ideas very welcome 🙏

@bubblebub1 of course not 😂 They’re too young to appreciate consumerism. That’s just me lol.

I like thinking what will be a hit. I was just in the right place at the right time to buy most of the things I mentioned (PS5 happened to be in stock on Amazon for the 2 seconds I looked, Wii delivered to the Game store I went to before work one day, Soccorbot sitting on a shelf at Smyths etc) 😁

PS5 Pro goes up for preorder tomorrow (time to be confirmed) and will probably sell out in minutes.

The retail industry always brings out a list of "most wanted" toys for Christmas.
As someone who worked in retail selling toys - most of it is a load of nonsense.
Some children do get carried away by the advertising and do ask for these toys. But usually they are the type of novelty thing that is abandoned by new years day (ie Furby's etc).
I do think the Lego Fortnite and Wicked sets will be popular but unlikely to sell out because Lego are smart and produce plenty.
Don't get sucked in by the "most wanted".

The game consoles were for DH. Interested in gifts generally (not just toys) 😊

DCs love Lego!! We’ve exhausted Jurassic World and Minecraft sets. They aren’t old enough to play Fortnite, but the new sets look fun.

There's a new Hatchimals mystery egg that I think will be popular. I also think the dance and flutter Barbie will be requested here.

Apparently there is a giant fingerling monkey too, which is expected to do well.

Agree that Lego and Bitzee will be popular choices too.

if they’re “too young for consumerism”

i can’t understand why you’re not keeping things simple and avoiding getting swept up on consumerism until they actually care about it? 🫤

Ooh one year I bought my three nieces the Lego Central Perk (friends). I might buy them the Lego Fortnite bus ha. Thanks for the heads up.

SnowJamz · 27/09/2024 14:14

My guesses that will be popular this year. I don’t think many toys sell out completely any more though - consoles do.

Real FX Stitch puppet
Bunny mama surprise
Mr Beast lab
Lego Fortnite bus

and I think stuff related to Moana and Sonic might be popular too with the new films coming out.
