TOMM - Organised Christmas 2024

Last year we had a wee thread discussing The Organised Mum Method Christmas and thought I'd make another one for this year.

I've copied and pasted descriptions from social media etc if you're not familiar.

"Every Monday at 10am for the next 13 weeks, I’ll drop a quick list of tasks for you to tackle that week. Each week, we’ll get a bit closer to a super organised Christmas! By December 1st, you’ll have everything all set! 🎉 If you’ve got the app, you can mix things up by deleting or adding tasks to suit you, and even jump ahead if you’re feeling extra productive!

So, just sit back, relax, turn on post notifications so you don’t miss out, and get ready to have your most organised Christmas EVER! 🌟 EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!"

Week 1: (last week)

🎄 AND WE'RE OFF 🌟 Organised Christmas WEEK 1 🌟 Here are your lists of jobs for this week 🎁
1️⃣Remember there are only so many days in December, so get the important non negotiable events in the diary now!
2️⃣ Start thinking about food, do you want to get your food delivered? Do you need a supermarket delivery saver to get a Xmas priority slot? Has your local butcher released their turkey orders yet? Don't worry about menu planning, we'll do that soon!
3️⃣ BOOK IN TO SEE FATHER CHRISTMAS!!!!! Lots of slots have been released already, but if yours hasn't, find out when they go live and set a reminder on your phone.
✨That's it for this week! I told you it was nothing to worry about!! We'll have this all wrapped in no time ❤️ See you next Monday!

Remember, you can customise your tasks to make Organised Christmas your own on ✨The Organised Mum app✨. BONUS: If you're a TOM Rocks member, enjoy an exclusive ambient session that went went today to get you excited and ready for festive preparations! 🎉🤩

Week 2:

Hey team! 🌟 Ready for Week 2? 💪 Let's dive in! Here’s what’s on the agenda:

  1. Toy Cull: 🧸 Time to make room for all the new goodies coming your way soon! Sort through your toys, and list anything still in good condition on selling sites to add some extra cash 💵 to your Xmas budget. Plus, TOM Rocks members, you have an exclusive guided ✨Toy Cull✨ waiting for you!
  1. Travel Plans: ✈️ Are you planning to visit friends or family? If your budget allows, try to book those tickets ASAP.
  1. Get-Togethers: 🎉 Think about any gatherings you want to plan. Pick a date and send out those "save the date" 📅 messages. This way, people are more likely to be free and can arrange babysitters if needed."

I personally follow it loosely and have downloaded the app. I sometimes move tasks to the following week or have managed to jump ahead tick something as I go.

I'll start by saying I find the toy cull really hard 😬

gardenmusic · 09/09/2024 17:56

Following.Luckily do not have to do toy cull, but I could do with making some wardrobe space.

RunningKatie · 09/09/2024 18:08

Week 1 complete.
A toy cull is always needed here!

Chyrssy · 09/09/2024 18:34

Following along too. I've got a lot to do in the next few weekends so I really need to keep to schedule 📅

MoonlightMedicine · 09/09/2024 23:04

Following!

I've been very good at starting the clothes cull for me and the kids but need to change my mind set with toys!

Last year I wasn't completely "done" by December but still felt good to be more organised when I've got more time!

How's everyone doing - this week I've ordered a coffee advent calendar for me but not sorted the dc yet.
One wants something chocolatey and one is dairy free so a bit of a challenge!

rhubarbhandsoap · 19/09/2024 21:03

Hello! @PumpkinSpicedTea after you recommended TOMM on the other thread I took all her prompts and put them in a word doc mixed with the declutter Friday focus areas from her cleaning system! I did switch a few things around but mostly kept the same.

I was waaaaaay too ambitious making last week’s goal “plan all baking and meals and decide on recipes” so that’s nowhere near ticked off - and probably won’t be this week either - but I love doing that so waiting for a good time to really enjoy it!

I’ve got most of our dates in the diary for December now, main stuff booked and advent calendars sorted.

YeahWellWhyNot · 19/09/2024 21:24

Ooh this looks good, can I join. I'm a planner to my bones 😬. I have all our Christmas pjs (bought dead cheap in Jan!), all but DH advent calendar is done. The big man is booked and we have a Christmas fair on the calendar but thats it so far. I fully intend to do a toy cull, I have 3 kids aged 2-7 🤪 but they also all have their birthdays from this weekend until the week after Christmas....let's not go there for timing £££. I need to just go about with a black bag/charity bag but so difficult to find the time. The kids insist they want to keep EVERYTHING so I find it easier to sneak it out, knowing full well they don't actually remember it's still there! The house feels very chaotic ATM so also following the cleanalong thread 🤗 also now very aware I need to get ready to make a Christmas cake, this will be the first year since DS1 was born I've attempted it!

UnimaginableWindBird · 19/09/2024 21:39

I can definitely handle this week's main task of eating food from the freezer!

PumpkinSpicedTea · 22/09/2024 08:21

I haven't bought advent calendars as we usually go for the chocolate ones. I've cleared the freezer but starting to build it up with batch cooking😁

I realised I forgot to post this week's tasks.

New list tomorrow!

I think the TOMM schedule is quite good. I do my own version of this but 1 aug - 1 oct each year and then have one week set in November for things that weren’t possible to do so early in aug/ sep which works well for me

PumpkinSpicedTea · 23/09/2024 14:18

That sounds good @Hariboaddicts I must admit I follow this loosely and sometimes end up jumping about but I like the idea of doing it Aug to Oct then a week in November.

The things I have to wait to do are usually booking online grocery orders etc and then I have one dc who never does a list till oct/nov so i use the designated week in November to shop for him (I coincide it with Black Friday / cyber Monday )

Hariboaddicts · 23/09/2024 15:05

I do also have a huge one of those plastic storage boxes I keep in the loft and after Xmas I always get tons of stuff in the sale and make sure I always get wrapping paper etc , gift bags, things like Xmas pjs in the size up from what dc are currently wearing as never want to pay full price put them all in the box so that it’s ready for the next Christmas

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 24/09/2024 05:00

Yay! My people!
So far I've sold a few things on fb, and ordered calendars. I've preordered a switch adbentgame for dh and it unlocks a bit more everyday which I thought sounded fun. Chocolate for DS, japanese candy sticks for DD, crossword for me.

Have booked flights and hotel for UK.
