My kiddos have a cousin who will turn 13 just after Christmas- gift ideas please?

I seem to find boys harder to buy for. Trying to keep the costs down as I got made redundant on maternity leave and am currently not working 😩

Kids these days seem to grow up much quicker than we did!

What’s he in to?
For my DS’s recent birthday, big hits were:
Marvel Cluedo
Dart board
Toastie maker
Nike backpack
Stunt/trick yo-yo

If he’s nerdy or geeky then a 4x4 or 5x5 Rubik’s cube - there will be lots of options on Google and eBay - track using camelcamelcamel and look back to see if there’s historically a good time before, during or after Black Friday.

if he is arty, then a small sketch book made of Black paper, along with a white bottom, a silver or gold biro plus a white, a very pale blue and a cream drawing/sketching pencil that are all designed to be used on dark paper. On the one hand you can just use it as a sketchbook set but on the other, it develops new skills as you’re drawing the light rather than the dark (think about drawing a snowman - you’d have to leave holes for the eyes and mouth rather than drawing them in, if you see what I mean.
if you look on the Christmas threads there are usually some recommendations of a good art supplier (cass comes to mind but don’t hold me to that!) - the pre-Christmas bargain threads, plus some stocking threads are already going well!

I'd ask the parents what they are into and go from there, at that age mine were into minecraft, roblox and pokemon cards, but if they don't like them then it's not a good purchase.

I agree that asking the parents is a good idea. But my 13 year old DS loves a kitchen gadget, like the toastie maker mentioned above and he loves his waffle maker (buy some waffle mix to go with it), or Nike/Adidas backpack.

Thank you! Love the idea of a skateboard or a kitchen gadget! Sadly my son informs me he already has a skateboard . I’m going to have a chat with his mum as suggested :)

Just realised for a boy...oops!

DS13 and his mates are just getting into aftershave, mine will me palmed off with some Adidas of whatever but some of his friends are into the fancy stuff!

Also much of the tat in Menkind...

Or wireless speaker? Power bank?

Thank god the next generation are a bit more aroma conscious.
Did you know 40% of 18-24 year olds don’t wear deodorant?

Bought my grandson a mini fridge for his bedroom. He absolutely loved it, he uses it for soft drinks and chocolate.

Ohh I love this idea! Although probably out of my budget this year unfortunately as I’m currently out of work. Teenage me would have been made up with a gift like this ☺️

I’ve got a mini fridge on the list for DS who will be 13 just after Christmas. I will fill it with drinks and snacks as well. Also on my list for him so far:
Nike socks
Thumb grip covers for gaming controller
Pan and Ice type ice cream set - you can get other cheaper versions on Amazon
Curry kit

He also collects Lego Speed Champions which you can usually pick up under £20 in places like Tesco or Asda, that might be a good idea if he’s into Lego/cars.

A bubble tea kit went down well with my boys last year. I bought the Bubbleology Fruit one from Asda.
