Looks blissful Fluffy, have a fabulous time. Had to look again to make sure it was legs not hot dogs 😂🏖

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 29/05/2024 13:40

Going brown already Fluffy. You got the better skin tone for the sun with our genetics 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 29/05/2024 15:01

Fought my way through the mountain of clean laundry this morning. Unfortunately I didn't have the oomph to take the ironing. Maybe tomorrow...

NoWordForFluffy · 30/05/2024 19:48

I've wrestled with 31° heat. It's been challenging! 🥵 ☀️

Aaaaannnnndd of course it is Build An Ark Weather .

Drinking the first cup of coffee and thinking about pootling off to Greggs to get breakfast for the riff-raff ( DD and DH are both WFH)

NoWordForFluffy · 31/05/2024 18:47

No rain here! Sunny at home too, judging by the photo from DPD of DH signing for some paint! (I'm keeping him busy in my absence, ha ha!)

Just need to paint some of the woodwork now, and then every room except my study and the bathrooms are done (though the kids' lounge only has wallpaper, so we do need to paint the other walls really).

In a week we'll be into the hundreds Xmas Shock

Bright here , not warm but not raining <hurrah>

Just waiting for the food delivery now .

@NoWordForFluffy is the paint that your DH took delivery of meant to be on the walls/woodwork by the time you get back ?

NoWordForFluffy · 01/06/2024 08:11

Morning!

Last day here. We're being collected at 1pm to go and suffer passport control at the airport before flying home. It was carnage on the way in, and will likely be as bad going back. 😩

And maybe, 70. He only has the long drop wall of the top stairs to do, so he may well do it. Annoyingly, he'd have done it already if it hadn't been touch and go with the paint, but he needed to then mix them together as they'll be different batch numbers. I'm hoping he does do it (he had a long list of stuff to do in my absence!).

I know he's put the kitchen sink splash back up finally, and also painted some of the kitchen at least. I'm not sure how much he painted, however! God knows why developers think that a small upstand is sufficient behind the sink. 🤷‍♀️

Morning!

Not raining here either, hurrah!

Fingers crossed for the paint job Fluffy.

My cat went awol for 2 days so I spent the time trawling the treats shaking a bag of dreamies, shouting his name and looking like a dick. Bizzarely one of my first thoughts was "oh god it will be the first christmas in this house with no cats" (his brother got knocked down a couple of years ago). Then of course he just strolls in this morning like nothing has happened. Big relief all round. Bloody animals.

So now I need to attack my very long list of chores.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/06/2024 08:51

Magnolia good to hear the little shit darling has come home .Xmas Grin

When there are posts on Litter Tray about missing cats they are so painful to read.
Of course cats are a law unto themselves , but so many Oh don't worry he'll be back posts are quite flippant and even patronising .
We've all been there thinking the worst /hoping for the best .
Yes they do usually come back (glares at MaleCat who had us fretting earlier this year as so out of character for him) Neighbours looked out at me in my robe with the box of Dreamies , seriously reconsidering their choice to move in next to me (I;m a good neighbour no loud music or CF parking )
But some cats do not come home Sad

Magnoliasunrise · 01/06/2024 14:03

You're so right 70! I started to read some of the Litter Tray threads and gave up as it was too sad. When our other cat was knocked down I joined a Facebook page for bereaved pet owners and it was torture, only managed a few days before I had to leave.

Toying with the idea of grounding him for life and maybe just taking him out on a lead occasionally 🤔

NoWordForFluffy · 01/06/2024 21:16

Get yourself a catio, Magnolia!

I'm home to a painted house. Whoop whoop! So nice to rid the place of new build magnolia (no offence! Xmas Grin )!

Morning!

We got home yesterday evening. Annoyingly some idiot had crashed into railings (proper destruction job!) at Switch Island on the way home, so we had to take a longer detour to get back.

The doggy was initially pleased to see me, then ignored me for the evening as I was clearly in his bad books for having gone away. He has now forgiven me, thankfully!

DH has done a good job of painting the walls of the second flight of stairs (stupidly high and awkward) and landing and the kitchen. We need to tidy up the woodwork in the hall, stairs and landing now (the contractors brought in by DWH seemingly thought that painting dusty woodwork was the right thing to do), but that can wait a while!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/06/2024 08:17

Good Job in the painting FluffyDH , it's one of those household tasks that some people enjoy doing . DH is fine as long as the room is empty and he can just put music on and get on with it.

It is really weird on your first night home when you wake up where am I ?

FluffyPup is just letting you know he missed you and noticed you weren't there . Our cats don't register if I'm here or not Xmas Hmm

Did you have any Pastel de nata ?

Magnoliasunrise · 02/06/2024 08:32

Welcome back Fluffy and well done FluffyDH - how nice to come back to fresh paint - my DH would still be getting the lid off the tin.🙄

Gorgeous day here - i think a BBQ might even be in the offing

And lots of washing of course - I'm excited as I've got some new washing liquid Persil Wonder Wash and it smells SOOOOOOO NICE. Yup thats how exciting my life gets right now.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/06/2024 10:06

@70isaLimitNotaTarget, no pastel de nata (I'm not a big cake / dessert person).

The doggy has definitely forgiven me as we had a long walk / run this morning! And he's had some bacon from my breakfast!

@Magnoliasunrise, I've done most of the painting to date. DH has done the wallpapering. Definitely his turn to paint, I reckon! Though I certainly won't have a turn at papering. Xmas Grin

Our two holiday loads are done and on the line. It's dry and breezy here. Not BBQ weather though (I'm too nesh!).

205 Morning.

Glad your DH did the painting and that you had a nice break away Fluffy

Magnolia A few people have suggested to me to get a cat as I lost my beloved ddog last year and miss having a pet but can't commit to another dog right now but I can't do it and that's one of the reasons why - I know so many people whose cats seem to take themselves on adventures for a few days before coming home and I would be too nervous.

DH had a fit on 'end of half term guilt' over the weekend and managed to finish a fair few of his.

I'm aching and slightly sunburnt today. Spent the whole weekend doing garden stuff (hefting planters around, painting them, potting things up then changing my mind about where I wanted them).
All that and there's still another days worth of work to do out there (mostly painting) which will be done at some point this week.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 03/06/2024 09:58

Just read that back and realised that my grammar is awful in that post, sorry!

Magnoliasunrise · 04/06/2024 06:57

204

Morning!

Meeces get a goldfish - no walks or extortionate vet bills and they don't take themselves off for adventures.

We've got a cherry tree and the cherries are just starting to ripen but I can't get to them before the bloody jay does. I've got a feeling that it might be feeding chicks so I haven't got the heart to put any netting or shiny cd's etc up. So looks like my cherries will be coming from Sainsburys again this year.

Fluffy did Little Miss Tramplefagbutt leave your new planting alone?

NoWordForFluffy · 04/06/2024 07:31

Morning!

Stupidly busy day yesterday at work, catching up from being off. It's no fun being away, I can tell you!

I'd be the same re the birds / cherries as I'm a right soft touch with such things! 🤣

My plants have been safe since I put my passive aggressive fence up! But I also put a load of Cotswold stone down, so it just looks like I've made it look nicer in general, rather than targeted them. Kind of! 🤣 The poor trampled plant came back, but hasn't flowered yet, unlike the others. Maybe it still will at some point!
