I need more practice at hosting! 4 dropped off so it was "only" 16 (7 kids tho). I'm wiped! But the good news is I have 10 portions of leftover chilli in the freezer and the cleanup is going well.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2024 21:31

Evening!

I've had an expensive day today! We had an electrician round to fit an outdoor socket and put another socket in the under stairs cupboard so we can have a plug-in light in there (weirdly, the cupboard was created without any light in it 🤷‍♀️). We also had a bloke from Hammonds round to quote for a fitted wardrobe in our room, which should be built around the end of October. I then also ordered a lovely 3+4 drawer unit from Oak Furnitureland to go where our current wardrobe is. That's being delivered on 30 October.

It was pitch black by 8.30 today. Summer is a distant memory!

Ooh sounds grim Meeces !

We (DH. DD and I) went to London to see "Witness For The Prosecution" , based on an Agatha Christie , twist at the end of course.

London is so busy at night and you cannot walk across the bridge at Westmister without having to dodge people taking photos, milling about randomly or staying off the cycle bath.

I am knackered now , off to bed.

Magnoliasunrise · 08/09/2024 08:04

Morning!

I like the sound of the serial killers exhibition 70 - yes very festive.

We had some friends round for a BBQ yesterday, we stayed outside but it did get quite chilly and I had to concede that Summer is definitely over. Although......... one of those clickbait pop ups said something about getting to mid 20's in the MIdlands next week ......Hmmmmmm🤔

NoWordForFluffy · 08/09/2024 08:06

Morning!

70, I detest Westminster Bridge as people just stop dead in front of you for no reason. Or walk at glacial speeds.

I'm just not a fan of busy places like that!

Awful weather here today. We've a brief spell between 4-8 where it's dry to get bedding dry, but otherwise it's forecast miserable.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/09/2024 08:08

@Magnoliasunrise, we have really miserable weather here next week!

Morning all :)

Utterly rubbish weather here today. DH has mentioned the garden centre so that will be nice.

Summer has definitely left.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/09/2024 09:30

Morning - we had the mother of all thunder and storms last night , and heavy rain.
I was surprised because yesterday wasn;t hot or muggy , it was still and "nothing-ey" my washing just hung there limply .

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 08/09/2024 18:26

Evening. Things are improving here - both DH and I managed a small bowl of soup and dry toast. Still feel rubbish but a million times better than yesterday!

I haven't done much today aside from sort out a draw full of toiletries and the files of paperwork I've been adding to but not removing from.

I haven't done any Christmas planning although the weather is right for it here. May do a little bit tonight - I need present ideas for nieces (13 and 9) so will nose online Xmas Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 08/09/2024 18:40

I'm glad you're improving a bit, Meeces. Stomach bugs are evil.

I thought that today was ripe for Christmas planning too. The weather is diabolical! Poor DH had a very wet dog walk!

Our washing will be going out tomorrow as the dry gap never happened!

The sun appears to be out here so I'm clearing the wash basket.
I hate this time when it's too warm for heating but generally too wet to put clothes out (we don't have a dryer).

I'm putting one load on the line and another on the airer in the conservatory and hoping the dry today.

Feeling about 50% human today and have the beginnings of an appetite back which is good.

And my last bit of good news is that I finally finished my first cross stitch Christmas card last night Xmas Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 09/09/2024 12:17

That's a cute card, Meeces! 🐧

We have both a stiff breeze as well as sunshine after it shat down yesterday evening / overnight! We've dried two loads of bedding and the towels are out now maybe in someone else's garden, it's so windy!

Thats a lovely card Meeces, havent touched mine since last week.

Its gone really cold here, DD went to bed with a hot water bottle last night 😂.

But I'm still confident we are going to have some warm weather end of September. (Just call me John Kettley).

NoWordForFluffy · 10/09/2024 07:45

As long as you're John Kettley and not Michael Fish, Magnolia! 🙈😬🤣

We have high winds today, but it's not gone too cold yet. Our house is still more than warm enough (benefit of a new build, our last house was old and damp and would've been verging on too cold by now).

Magnoliasunrise · 10/09/2024 19:15

Nearly said Michael Fish then I remembered the hurricane!!!😂

Thanks for that Fluffy, absolutely bloody brilliant!

And soooo is Wincey Willis.

Was that introduced by "our Rita"?

NoWordForFluffy · 10/09/2024 21:02

Ahhhh, Wincey Willis. Surely best known for Treasure Hunt with Anneka Rice?! 🚁

I couldn't place the presenters. My memory failed me!

OP posts:
Magnoliasunrise · 10/09/2024 21:26

Our Rita from Johnny Briggs.

🎄 105 🎄
The references yesterday lost me I'm afraid born mid 80s so probably more of a 90s kid

Busy busy busy here. Finally back to feeling ok and had an office day.
Out the house at 7 but home by 5. Have cooked a mini roast (pork chops, mash, veg, gravy) and used up some of the delicious red cabbage I cooked a while ago and was in the freezer.
Have also had a sort out of the airing cupboard and cleaned the kitchen.
Feet up now I think!

Fluffy I realised when I looked back at my pic that I've missed a crucial piece of backstitch - the stars are part of a headband bopper thing the middle penguin is wearing, I just haven't sewn on the springs to connect them Xmas Blush

NoWordForFluffy · 11/09/2024 22:10

Sounds like a busy / productive day, Meeces!

I'm sure it won't take long to sort your penguin's deely boppers out!

I think @TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg needs to start knitting tiny jumpers for our cold house martins. They've spent the last few days huddling on the balcony! ☹️🥶 We think they had a second brood who aren't big enough to fly to Africa yet, so they've got to stay here a while. Poor birdies! (Excuse the bird poo on the balcony...they've made a right mess!)
