I’ve still got:

A whole Christmas cake & 6 mince pies (Got friends coming for a coffee this afternoon so hoping I can ply them with some of it).

Enough leftovers from Christmas dinner for dinner tonight and breakfast tomorrow (turkey, ham, veg, pigs in blankets)

SO MUCH CHEESE.

OP posts:
Littlenutroast · 27/12/2023 19:19

Not much at all. A few small pigs in blankets (uncooked) which I will probably throw away. A few slices of turkey for sandwiches tomorrow. Some stuffing to go with the turkey. All the sweet stuff has been eaten.

Torganer · 27/12/2023 19:34

Nothing! Didn’t have to host this year. It’s been amazing!

Mrsgreen100 · 27/12/2023 19:41

Made lots of gravy so I could have roast all over again when everyone left
no cooking etc
daughters muppet boyfriends only job was to put left over gravy in the fridge, but no he left out by the boiler overnight!!
he’s meant to be a chef ffs
so crisps for me tonight!

MadCatLady27 · 27/12/2023 21:17

Enough turkey for that and warm rolls tomorrow
4 pigs to go with above dinner
4 frozen turkey servings DH will have for lunch

Dry roasted peanuts
Pate
1 3/4 Pringle tubes
1 1/2 bags of disappointing pistachios
Few garlic & parmesan twists
Box of Lindor
Box of flower and white chocolate coated meringue pieces

DH has some twiglets, chilli Doritos and a chocolate orange

I'd like my nibbles and at least the Lindor gone before I go back to work on the 2nd but will probably have the meringue pieces at least left and probably some nuts

We tried to be more contained with it this year but I did top up the pringles and had to wade through a decent sized bag of Asda version of cheese "savouries" they used as a substitute for DH twiglets. I thought they'd be like cheddars but were much more bland. I enjoy it for a few days but then get a bit tired of it, but wouldn't want to not have it! At least this year we didn't have multiple boxes of biscuits and celebrations

We may get a desert for new year's eve but are getting a take away so may leave it

BettyBakesCakes · 27/12/2023 21:21

Loads. Mainly picky bits which well eat over the next couple of days and cheese which will get eaten over new year. Also lots of choc but that'll get eaten as and when over the next few weeks.

eurochick · 27/12/2023 22:37

Quite a bit of turkey as we hosted fewer people than expected due to illness and the older women in the family now eat like birds, sadly. It will be made into curry tomorrow.
Some ham, for sandwiches.
A few sprouts, a couple of yorkshires and a small amount of stuffing. They are probably for the bin now.
Quite a few roast pots. Not sure what will happen to them.

About a dozen mince pies - we will work our way through them.
About a quarter of a Yule log - most of that will get eaten.

A few packets of nuts and nibbles that will get used over the next week or so.

A mountain of chocolate. Everyone knows we are a household of chocoholics so we always get some chocolate gifts but this is a bit obscene. We will work our way through it over the next few weeks!

caringcarer · 27/12/2023 22:47

I've frozen Lots of slices of turkey for a curry sometime in January. I've frozen Lots of slices of beef for a stew in January.
Lots of various cheeses
Various Crackers
Shortbread
Chocolates
Matchmakers
Maltesers
Pringles x 2
Treeslet's/Twiglets/Mini Cheddars
Raspberry Pavlova still frozen
A couple of big bags of crisps
Scotch eggs
Frozen uncooked pigs in blankets x 2 packs.
Frozen mini sausage rolls
Frozen mozzarella sticks x 2
Frozen profittores
Several other frozen buffet foods
I'm doing a big buffet for 12 guests plus me and dh on December 30th and a lot will be eaten then. I'll make a couple of fresh quiches and be making a Tiramisu. I'll send my son home with leftovers. He's very good at eating up those for me.

ActuallyChristmas · 27/12/2023 22:48

Most of it as it’s the day after Boxing Day 🤷‍♀️
Biscuits, chocs, lebkuchen, nibbles all have dates till about March so we will slowly enjoy them. Cranberry jarred type, chutney, rum butter - will use over the next month. Pate all dated Jan and Feb, same approach. Leftover chicken and roast veg in freezer. Planned New Years Eve meat in freezer

caringcarer · 27/12/2023 22:51

I've also got a whole turkey frozen for NY day meal. I didn't cook a turkey on Xmas day as at my son's. I've bought a lot of meat for my freezer whilst I saw very good offers in 2 weeks before Xmas as Nd I won't be shopping for much food in January. I plan.of cooking from my freezer.

mollyfolk · 27/12/2023 22:51

Tucking into leftover Baileys rights now. It’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it’s we have a tiny bit of ham and turkey and otherwise just one lovely bit of cheese and chutney that I will also eat.

throughgrittedteeth · 27/12/2023 23:06

Well I'm feeling smug because we finished off the turkey and left over veg today in a pie I made and everyone said it was really delicious and had seconds preen Grin

Otherwise we have left:
Gammon
Mince pies
Crisps/nuts
Chocolates
Some cheese and pate

However we have run out of bread and we're down to a pint of milk.

ReignOfError · 27/12/2023 23:22

Less than I’d hoped. I made what I thought was way more than enough for the 17 people I had here for Christmas Eve, but the bastards ate almost all of it.

Brought some turkey, stuffing and pigs in blankets back from my kids’ on Christmas Day, but that’s gone now.

So I have some cheese, half a homemade panettone, a few chocolates and lots of nuts (which I don’t eat)

WeneedSamVimesonthecase · 27/12/2023 23:26

Oh god, so much, and mostly sweet stuff which I try not to eat - profiteroles, chocolate torte, tiramisu, mince pies, stollen, Lebkuchen, chocolate truffles, chocolate biscuits, brandy cream, lemon meringue pie...

I'm going to put some of the unopened packs in a food bank before I'm tempted to snaffle it all.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 27/12/2023 23:30

Turkey
Ham
Red cabbage
Shed loads of cheese - just too full whenever we get to it
A terrine we made for Christmas Day starter
Chestnut soup
A tonne of chocolate

Rosesandstars · 28/12/2023 00:06

Three types of cake
Cheese
Quality street
Pringles
2x chocolate oranges
Half a selection box
And a partridge in a pair tree.

Bbq1 · 28/12/2023 00:17

Mince pies
Trifle
Small Xmas pud (for me)

MidnightMeltdown · 28/12/2023 00:40

Mince pies
Big unopened tin of Christmas biscuits
Mulled wine

MummyInTheNecropolis · 28/12/2023 00:53

Enough chicken and stuffing for one more round of sandwiches tomorrow
mince pies
celebrations (only the least favoured ones left)
2 other boxes of chocolates
half a Yule log
lots of crackers and cheese
Pringles
a chocolate orange

LangMayYerLumReek2024 · 28/12/2023 01:04

Mince pies and cheese. Lots of cheese.

nokidshere · 28/12/2023 01:23

Nothing. I gave most of my Christmas shop to a friend as we've spent almost all week at the hospital so she had all the perishables. We don't buy many extras anyway and we've been grazing so we had to do a small shop today

ODFOx · 28/12/2023 01:36

We had friends round last night to help and I made a festive leftovers pie which fed 6 handsomely ( to the extent that no-one wanted the sweet stuff or cheese.
So today (28th) before breakfast we still have a box of cooked sausages, another of cooked bacon and another of cooked half tomatoes: I'll be making either a quiche or frittata in the morning. Then still enough turkey and gammon to feed us well for a coupe of days: I've offered warm in gravy plus bubble and squeak tomorrow and then the rest will have to go in a curry for the freezer.
We have more guests on 29th and will use up pannetone, stollen in mince pies in the afternoon.
Some things are, fortunately, dated into January so we can use them on the next guests over new year. I'm shocked that I under-catered cheese, but have 3 untouched massive desserts to eat by 4th January.

MrsFloof · 28/12/2023 01:40

Around 150g of Stilton
Some turkey, maybe 300g
Lots of veg, had a huge veg box.
Anything sweet has gone

We've been having turkey and coleslaw rolls, yesterday was turkey and veg korma, today was turkey and veg bubble and squeak.

baubl · 28/12/2023 07:56

Got a confession to make...

In the interests of not wanting to throw away excess food, I've eaten brownies and some extra thick cream for breakfast. What a piggy I am.

festivefoodlover2023 · 28/12/2023 09:57

A few questions for those of you with leftover turkey...

  1. When will you freeze it if you haven't eaten it by?
  2. Those of you who are making curries and pies, can you keep and reheat the 'leftovers' of the new recipe or do you have to eat them all at once?
festivefoodlover2023 · 28/12/2023 09:57

@baubl is it even Christmas if you don't have something like that for breakfast at some point in December?
