For the first time in 16 years, I don't have a DC in the house who believes in FC

I wasn't sure if DS2 believed or not, but he said today 'By the way, I know you're Father Christmas'.

So that's it. I no longer have a DC who believes. I knew it was coming and tbh we had a bloody good run of it (DS2 is 12), but it does make me a bit sad.

Same here, DD is 11 and pretty sure she knows, has asked a few awkward questions. Hasn’t written to or seen Santa this year for the first time and I haven’t discussed it with her 😞 I feel really sad but it has to happen eventually. But it is the end of an era.

FreshWinterMorning · 24/12/2023 21:07

As long as YOU still believe @cheezncrackers Smile

Eekmystro · 24/12/2023 21:10

Ok so the thing I always wondered is, do you still do Santa? Are you still leaving out milk with them playing along that Santa left something?

Mine are 7 and 9 so I think we have another couple of years with youngest at least, but what happens after? Do you not do a ‘Santa gift’ or still all just play along for fun?

DreamingInPhosphorescence · 24/12/2023 21:14

Well, we’re into the second year of having no believers in the house and it’s awesome. The stress of Christmas has evaporated leaving all of the good bits, imo.

Dacadactyl · 24/12/2023 21:15

Aww I think it's sad. First time here in 16 years too! Takes away some of the magic for me as well.

GerardWay123 · 24/12/2023 21:15

My adult children 25 and 30 still 'believe' in Santa. They were told years ago if they didn't believe there would be nothing in their stockings.😂

Justrolledmyeyesoutloud · 24/12/2023 21:24

Dd and l had the chat in february but we agreed to carry on believing - new stage but def less pressure now!!

captaincalamari12 · 24/12/2023 21:27

I have believers and honestly find the pressure so intense

cheezncrackers · 24/12/2023 21:29

Of course I believe @FreshWinterMorning!

Yeah, I suppose I don't have to creep about any more. The days of waiting until they were both asleep and then trying not to rustle too much as I took the bags of presents downstairs Xmas Grin

Same! Youngest is 10, eldest is 16. I’ve tried to keep doing the same traditions but honestly I feel the magic is gone. The pressure has if anything increased as I haven’t worked out how to make it a magical Christmas present it out the magic!
