Thanks - you too! I tried to ignore Christmas as much as possible but I always have a ‘moment’ before where I feel awful and hate it intensely. I’m alone with my elderly mum again who’s struggling to eat, miserable etc. I’ve spent all day with her but have had to escape to the pub for half an hour just for a break (she’s fine btw)

Me! I've been ill all December, Covid then flu straight after. I'm completely drained and have popped a rib from coughing so badly so every cough is torture.

All the Xmas plans we had are out the window now, DH came down with flu today. We had so many plans to spend time with family and its all gone to hell.

Our 3 young teen DC are being bratty and obstinate, the house is an absolute dive and my fridge is full of food that we probably now won't be able to eat.

Illness and frailty make no concessions for Xmas. Gentle hand holds and cups of tea.

It's two weeks today since my mum died. 😢Right now I fucking hate Christmas.

Yes Christmas does bring everything into focus doesn't it, I usually try to be cheery and be grateful for what I have but this time of year makes it hard. I live in slightly unsafe temporary accommodation (people taking drugs in the stairwells, violent drunk men) share a kitchen and toilet with 10 blokes, no cooking facilities aside from kettle and microwave. No family, nowhere to go at Christmas. But we are infested with bedbugs again so I guess I have some company 🙂 it makes it harder when it feels like the rest of the world is having such a great time. I just look forward to January, when everyone else is miserable too 😁
