Going to attempt the ham in coke but don't like the sound of the glaze.
Can I just put put the ham in coke in the slow cooker overnight instead?

That’s what I do!

Have you had it before? I really don’t like it - ours is boiling at the moment. Skin removed , fat scored and rubbed with honey , mustard and sriracha glaze and into hot oven to crust

I don’t do a glaze

Never had it before. I have a big ham for Xmas day. I thought as I have ham and coke I could try it. What does it actually taste like?

That’s what I do!

And me. No glaze.

Honey, Dijon mustard and clove glaze is to die for. Turns out nice and dark and sticky.

I like it but find the glaze is a bit of a waste of time. It's fine without it.

Ham drama here , husband insisted on a ridiculously large one despite my protests , doesn’t fit in instant pot , sticks out of the largest pan we have so now in slow cooker with an upturned heavy bowl from pestle / mortar to weigh lid down. Me I’d have cut it into two pieces and frozen half - there’s just two of us and going out for lunch !

If you're slow cooking in coke, or ginger beer, you don't need to glaze. The sugar in the drinks will partially do that anyway, and any extra glaze will mostly get rinsed off. You can add extra spices to the coke though, or stud the ham with cloves.

What do you all think about cooking it in cider? With maybe cloves studded in?

I’ve kind of the opposite problem - love a Nigella style cola ham but my FIL bought a ready cooked one! I think I’ll crack on with the normal glaze or maybe something with lots of stem ginger and see how it goes.
