Usually have smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, but fancy something different this year. What are you having?

OP posts:

Scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and black pudding. With champagne - I don’t like a Buck’s Fizz! Plus lots of coffee.

BadgerFace · 23/12/2023 06:59

DH smoked salmon
Me and DD2 frozen croissants
DD1 took a fancy to a charcuterie board in the M&S Christmas food magazine and couldn’t believe it when I said we could do something similar for her for Christmas Day breakfast this year, she is so excited! The girls usually have pancakes with berries and whipped cream to make it look like Father Christmas.

This year we have the Jus Rol pain au chocolates and Bucks Fizz. Xmas Grin We usually either have those or the cinnamon rolls but I couldn't find those this year

DisforDarkChocolate · 23/12/2023 08:42

Waffles with maple syrup and fresh fruit. There will also be chocolate chips, fruit in calvados and brandy cream.

BarryKentPoet · 23/12/2023 08:43

Bagels, cream cheese & bacon for 2 of us, pancakes, bacon & maple syrup for the other 2. Berries & banana to start!

RabbitsRock · 23/12/2023 08:45

Smoked salmon & Philadelphia bagels. Going to try to get Buck’s Fizz smoked salmon from Aldi ( had it last year & it was to die for)

Muststopeating · 23/12/2023 08:51

We cook a joint of beef (rare) the night before, carve it up on Christmas morning and have open roast beef sandwiches (freshly made breadmaker bread) while opening our presents.

I think the tradition started when my mum was a little girl with the leftover joint from the night before. But now it's a dedicated joint.

We've always just had topside but last year by brother did sirloin and it was even better. Though I may revert to topside next year after this year's butcher bill!!!

One of my favourite bits of Christmas Day!

Muststopeating · 23/12/2023 08:53

And Prosecco of course (or cava if making bucks fizz).

PermanentTemporary · 23/12/2023 09:04

Reading for inspiration. May depend on what's left at the supermarket tbh. We're having smoked salmon on crackers for pre dinner, so not salmon.

Reallybadidea · 23/12/2023 09:13

We have our Christmas dinner on Xmas Eve so Xmas day brunch is fairly substantial to keep us all going until the evening. On offer:

Sausages, bacon and eggs
Cinnamon waffles
Spiced kouign amann
Fruit platter
Yoghurts
Selection of breads
Bagels, cream cheese, smoked salmon
Characterise board

familyissues12345 · 23/12/2023 09:15

Nothing too unusual for Christmas -

DH and DS2 - cream cheese and salmon on bagels

DS1 and I - pastries.

Just my usual cereal! I will enjoy Christmas dinner, but I'm not a huge foodie.. I don't overindulge, have never put on weight over Christmas and will actually be in better shape this year as I joined a gym a year ago and have stuck it out! 🏋️😊

brawnthesheep · 23/12/2023 09:26

😆

FrillyGoatFluff · 23/12/2023 11:08

Spent a small fortune on frozen pastries from the local deli yesterday, as is our Christmas Day ritual.

Only problem is, we all like different ones, and they all take different times to cook, so I spend bloody ages stood in front of the oven very confused, juggling baked goods, shouting 'don't touch the presents!'

Ah, traditions are a wonderful thing 😂

Toddler will smear orange and melon all over everything, as is standard.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 23/12/2023 11:58

Cinnamon buns that I'll make tomorrow but bake in the morning.

Yes, you probably do if you are overweight.

brawnthesheep · 23/12/2023 21:52

@Notsurehwhattdo You sound a bit bitter & sad, I hope Santa brings you a more positive outlook & some fun! 😘

PumpkinPie2016 · 23/12/2023 21:56

Bacon butties 😁

It was DS decision (he's 10). Quite looking forward to it.

Day after boxing day will be a full English as my parents are staying boxing day night.

Ooh! This sounds bloody amazing.

We had a tradition of having freshly baked sausage rolls as we were unwrapping the presents, but DD prefers cinnamon rolls these days. I've got a real fancy for a bacon and egg stottie this year though, and the hens are still laying well so we've got lots of eggs.
