How many meals out, if any, do you have over the Christmas period?

Depends how you define ‘Christmas period’ really. DP and I went for a curry on Sunday night and on Wednesday night we went out for a Christmas drink with friends after work and ended up ordering food as well because it got late.

But if you mean, say, Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day, then:

Posh in a local restaurant on Christmas Eve with my MIL
Dinner in a hotel in 27 Dec, as we’re having a post-Christmas night away
Probably lunch out on 30 Dec, but more along the lines of a toastie and a coffee

We don’t have kids. If we did, we probably wouldn’t be able to afford much/any eating out at this time of year as a family!

Once or twice - we have the theatre one day so will eat out then.

We had a lunch out this week as we had a half day off to do some Christmassy things.

We may get a takeaway Xmas eve (rare here as we are rural).

Fancy dinner out with friends, which we do once a year. Another dinner with a friend after a theatre show. Apart from that, lots of catering at home. Far cheaper and more relaxing. The expensive dinner we had was quite fraught with waiters charging around looking frazzled and making mistakes.

Quite a bit this year. Meal out with work, family pub lunch today, we’re in town tomorrow to run errands so will eat at a restaurant and we’re out for lunch on Christmas Eve as well. We also have a meal booked for NYE.

Dinner out on Christmas Eve as we’re staying in a hotel near MIL. Dinner before the theatre on 28th, and after it on 30th. Otherwise at home.

Went out last Saturday, just to pizza express after taking DD to see Santa.

We should have gone out on Weds (the day DC broke up from school) but something cropped up so we ended up having a chippie tea.

Christmas Eve will be a chippie tea again - so not out but I’m not cooking except to warm up some mince pies.

We’re going to see Wonka between Christmas and NY so we’ll go for a meal out then too.

Going out for lunch on Christmas Eve, just to a local Italian place. Hosting Christmas Day and Boxing Day at my house. Then lunch at my mum's the day after Boxing Day. Then it will be just me and DP by the seaside for two nights, so we'll eat in our hotel one night and are then planning to go to an Indian or Thai place the next. After that we're planning on basically being hermits over New Year though, grazing on cheese.

None really. Xmas isn't really a time for eating out for us. We eat at other people's homes and people come to us, we don't go to restaurants.

We did go to a show on Tuesday and had an excellent pizza beforehand, but not sure if that counts as eating out over the xmas period? Maybe we will go for a walk between Xmas and NY or on NY Day that involves a simple pub stop, but it's not planned.

Duh! Editing as we are actually eating out on Christmas Day. A curry. Cant wait! Doing the traditional Xmas dinner on Christmas Eve this year.
