What might have I have forgotten?

I have never been so organised for Christmas in my life (mainly because my 20yo DD has done all my wrapping apart from hers). I have a present list that I have ticked off, only have to buy for family and one secret Santa present to be exchanged on Christmas Day so not loads. I did my supermarket shop today and have put what I need in the freezer. I will buy my veg at a local shop on a Saturday. Turkey to be picked up on Saturday, ham in the fridge. I have Christmas crackers, napkins and table cloth are ironed. Will buy final booze tomorrow when DS is working as he works in a bottle shop and gets a good discount. I am sitting here feeling incredibly anxious that I have somehow missed/forgotten something vital and it is really stressing me out. If you can think of something I might have forgotten please tell me (I’m in Aus so it is a hot Christmas so enough ice is more relevant than hot chocolate) 😁

I only have the fresh things left to buy , turkey gets picked up Sunday morning so I'll get the veg picked up then . I keep nagging my husband ( he's nominated )to not forget the herbs , garlic bulbs and lemons and limes . Already got the bacon and chipolatas . I'm nearly there .

Do you have plenty of the basics? Toilet roll, kitchen roll, tin foil, cling film etc?

Nonplusultra · 21/12/2023 10:35

Sometimes I assign the same serving dish to different dishes because it’s what I would usually serve that food in eg I could put the bread sauce in the gravy boat … and the gravy. Or custard, cream and milk in the same jug.

Or I think because I’ve bought more eggs than any single recipe calls for, the box will magically keep producing enough.

Milk
Tin foil

Thanks for the reminder of tin foil. It’s so easy to concentrate on the specials and forget the basics.

Thank you I don't use tin foil anymore for turkey , more hassle than it's worth . I always have a cupboard full of toilet roll 😂.

Drinks/mixers, pudding?
It sounds like actually you have everything under control...
Suntan lotion? 😂
Try and enjoy the next few days, eat some chocolate and drink alllll of the wine!

Tin foil - I knew there was something 😁 Thank you. I seem to have everything else (including sun tan lotion and after COVID I get loo roll, paper towels and tissues on subscription).

Fuel! Do you have fire logs and wood if you’ve an open fire?

gifts for any neighbours who rock up unexpectedly with a gift for you? I keep one at the door and a card for all possible people so I can quickly hand it out if they arrive up😂

bin bags

lots of foil freezing containers with lids, and freezer bags. So you can chop up the remaining Turkey and ham on day three when you’ve had enough.

Christmas pjs and nice clean beds for Christmas Eve.
