I'm in the UK
Dh wants to go tomorrow, but I'd rather go Friday and Saturday for anything I've forgotten
What's everyone else doing ?

We're going Friday as we both have a half day at work. Saturday and Sunday are going to be manic.

Sholkedabemus · 20/12/2023 17:23

Ocado tomorrow evening.

I think Friday is better, Dh just wants it out the way ( and insisting on coming along too even though he hates crowds etc 🙄

It's a balance. Friday is 3 days before Christmas. Tomorrow is 4 days before Christmas. You don't want to be buying food too early otherwise you risk it spoiling (not everyone has oodles of freezer space). At the same time you don't want to be stuck in queues and getting stressed. Christmas Eve Eve Eve (sounds silly, but you get the idea) is early enough without being too early and definitely not too late.

I hate crowds, too. Life is stressful enough without the added noise and having to keep your wits about you with pickpockets etc

I'm going tomorrow.

I've got to wait in for parcels tomorrow and Friday so DH and I aren't going until Saturday.

Deebee90 · 20/12/2023 17:37

I went today. Asda was absolutely rammed but I got everything I needed and good expiration dates too. Emptied my fridge in preparation for it all. I don’t plan to go out again if I can help it.

PumpkinPie2016 · 20/12/2023 17:39

I'm going Friday- mainly because I am at work until 1.30pm on Friday so not much chance before that.

It will be busy but I am just going to battle through it and get it done.

Might call in the butchers tomorrow for some bits as I can freeze those until needed.

ChristmasIsComing2023 · 20/12/2023 17:42

We finished ours today other than the bakery bread that I will go and get on Saturday or Sunday depending how fresh it looks on Saturday!! But then we don’t need to get vegetables or anything as we’re going to Toby Carvery on Christmas Eve for our Christmas Dinner and then having a buffet on Christmas Day so it was just ham, a Spanish Cured Meat Selection, cream cheese, onion rings and desserts that we got for that today!! 😁

DyslexicPoster · 20/12/2023 17:43

I did most of mine yesterday but the doing the rest on Friday.

I'm also going out at the last hour before closing on Christmas eve to see what I can get reduced.

the80sweregreat · 20/12/2023 17:44

I'm getting the Turkey out on Friday to thaw etc , so will have a bit of space I hope by then
I haven't a very big fridge / freezer so it's a juggling act keeping it all refrigerated and food safe etc etc
Same old first world problems every year

I'm going to Aldi for some nice things tomorrow but my main 'ingredients' shop I've booked a Tesco click and collect. F**K going into shops if I can avoid it!!!
