If you serve appetisers/ hors d’oeuvres on Christmas Day

What are you serving?

I’m thinking of little bits to pass around and snack on rather than a sit down starter.

Just looking for some inspiration because all of my ideas at the moment involve things wrapped in bacon which is the one thing trying to avoid as we’re having it for breakfast and then pigs in blankets later.

brie and cranberry filo parcels
puff pastry cheese and ham trees
garlic doughballs
voluvents with prawns in

Croutes with cream cheese / smoked salmon and croutes with pesto and charred red pepper
Brie cube and half grape on cocktail sticks
Cheese and marmite palmiers
Espresso cups of butternut and chilli soup

How do you even have room to eat starters knowing there's a full Christmas dinner ahead?!

We have nibbles instead of a starter every year. I'll have crackers, smoked trout pate, prawns in garlic butter or cocktail sauce, burrata with olive oil salt and pepper, smoked salmon on brown bread, panzanella and a fruit salad (weird family tradition to have a fruit salad starter). And as I cook the ham on Xmas eve, we'll have that out too.

Truffle cheese bruschetta is as far as I have got this year!

Pringles in multi flavours

Blini with soft cheese and smoked salmon topped with a prawn and dill sauce. Probably serve something else as well but if it's only the two of us we're happy with just the blinis.

Whatever looks nice in M&S on Friday! But will be a selection of bite size party food and charcuterie.

Ignore the haters OP. Unfortunately Mumsnet is full of people who eat only a lettuce leaf and a glass of water 24 hours before Christmas dinner to prepare themselves. Your plans sound lovely!

Because not everyone stuffs themselves with a roast. Much prefer to have a little of different things
