Due to my son being in hospital and visiting him, there is a good chance I will find myself on my own in the premier inn in Bury for much of the Christmas period.

Does anyone know a takeaway that might be open Christmas day?

A lot of Indian restaurants open on Christmas Day. I don’t know the hotel but will they do food?

Cubic · 17/12/2023 10:11

I live near Fairfield hospital, happy to plate you up a Christmas dinner and bring it to you.

Cubic · 17/12/2023 10:19

We don't use many take aways but if you're on Facebook have a look at the local community groups and ask there for recommendations, you'll get more local knowledge.

why would you do that?

spend christmas at the hospital with your son and get christmas lunch there

how old is he? if a child they will provide for parents

He's not in regular hospital so the visiting arrangements are normally more complex and I'm not really getting a straight answer about Christmas. They try and empty out on leave but that'd a bit more complex as home is a long long way from hospital. I think they are trying to get him home for Christmas but in all honesty that may not be safe.

he's very much looking forward to me visiting but he doesn't normally last longer than an hour.

The hotel might I was going to find out today. But in all honesty the food doesn't look over inspiring, and I normally use the wetherspoons because it is cheaper.

I wss thinking about it this morning and I'd rather have something vaguely exciting if possible. The rest of Christmas is a bit of a washout.

I'm presuming you mean Prestwich then. Loads of food places in Prestwich and if you look on Deliveroo or Just Eat on the 25th you'll find a list delivering on Christmas Day.

@Icedlatteplease they may do for Christmas Day but just ring and double check. They are lovely and usually very accommodating, the restaurant looks pretty old school but the curries are so good x

escapethemaze · 17/12/2023 11:52

OP if they usually empty out at christmas and they are trying for that… they will be gunning for all out. Really. All i’m saying is… have a plan for him being with you too

Tatapie · 17/12/2023 12:00

Indigo in Whitefield ( between hotel and hospital) will be open - Indian, very good. Will need to book.

Oneblindmouse · 17/12/2023 12:17

Have you asked at The Art Picture House if they are open?

Not yet., it's quite busy at the moment compared to normal and I'm guessing if it's open it probably will be a bit overwhelming. I did read somewhere that wetherspoons are generally open for drinks but not food no idsa if that includes the picture house. I'm really not feeling the Christmas spirit atm but I'd kinda like to do something (quiet)[ that's a bit of a treat iyswim.

I can throw a roast dinner together if needed, our Christmas are usually small and chilled but special anyway. My DD and her friends have put up a tree at home because Im bearly at home and not in the mood.its highly unlikely everything that needs to be done for discharge will actually happen it requires a lot of agencies to come together. It's not me having a plan that's a problem!!!🤣🤣🤣.

Do you have a car? Saffron Express in Prestwich is open on Christmas Day and is fabulous. It's only a 15min drive but not sure they deliver that far. If you do have a car, you'll have lots of choice within a short drive. Prestwich has lots of Jewish-owned places, and Cheetham Hill lots of Muslim-owned ones, and so it's business as usual in these neighbourhoods.

Best wishes to your son, fingers crossed he gets a good amount of leave at the very least.

escapethemaze · 17/12/2023 17:02

How far from home will you be? could you meet partner and DD halfway?

Icedlatteplease · 24/12/2023 00:03

Nah he's still very in. Currently resisting any attempt at outside so leave isnt happening either. Going to see him in the morning.

But DD made a last minute decision to come up so shes here tomorrow!

No car but the jewel of india is apparently open for takeaway and is round the corner. @Cas112 good call.

Will still be a weird one. I think all our presents other than DS's are still at home. Other that morning visiting DS. I think it's just Christmas telly and indian.
