I’m having a few people from a sports club I do over for lunch next week. Informal type thing, not a big roast. Completely stumped what to do for food. So what Christmas bits do you really love? I’m a pretty good cook, so happy to make things from scratch.

I think I’m doing profiteroles and spiced apple and salted caramel cupcakes for pudding as they’re easy to pick up, does that sound good?

My favourite Christmas party canapes would be: roast asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, dates with chorizo and manchego cheese, and salmon blinis. Also I love to snack on one of those boxes with the different shapes pretzels and crackers. Yum, I feeling peckish!

Dates with chorizo and cheese? Sounds interesting , are you wrapping the dates and cheese with chorizo slices like devils on horseback or just serving together? Hot or cold?

My version is probably quite basic but tastes delicious. I just buy the largest dates I can find, cut them open and pop in a small piece of cheese and a little slice of chorizo that has been fried so it's a little crispy. Jamie Oliver does a version as a mini skewer. Or wrapped in bacon would be tasty and also look nice.
