Nothing too difficult to learn, they'll probably want to play it on Christmas Day. Any ideas?

They have Dixit
Cards against humanity family edition
Labyrinth

Telestrations was a great hit with my teens last year.

Also scattergories.

scryingeyes · 15/12/2023 21:36

Balderdash

Tilllly · 15/12/2023 21:38

Exploding kittens

Definitely a winner here

Thisishard93 · 15/12/2023 21:39

Definitely Articulate! Our favourite game with teens and friends! not sure if there’s a family friendly version of ‘What’s Your Meme’ - also a good one for teens!

MissBuffyAnneSummers · 15/12/2023 21:40

Cranium is pretty good

clopper · 15/12/2023 21:45

Just one is a quick fun game.
Rhino Hero, you have to balance cards, also funny.
men at work, also a balancing game with equipment.
Baren park is a great special awareness game.
we also love uno flip, articulate and logo

InflatableSanta · 15/12/2023 21:47

Scotland Yard is good

EddieBlackadder · 15/12/2023 21:49

Depending on what the teenagers are interested in, there are plenty of specifically themed versions of Monopoly.

Cluedo will get them thinking.

My view with board games is that you can't beat the classics.

InflatableSanta · 15/12/2023 21:49

Oh yes we love Rhino Hero @clopper

We also quite enjoy this game - a board game but with some fun challenges etc and a good Christmas theme

Superfrog3 · 15/12/2023 21:51

Throw throw burrito is good

The family edition of Cards against humanity is an absolute hoot! We also love Articulate ( except my two DDs are too good at it and DH and I always lose!)

Exactly the same here with Articulate! Keep wanting to split the girls up, but they will only play if they are on the same team 🙄

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza

Settlers of catan

Lizzieregina · 15/12/2023 21:53

My kids loved Apples to Apples and Telestrations.

Now that they’re in their 20s, they play Telestrations After Dark and apparently it’s hilarious!

DisforDarkChocolate · 15/12/2023 21:53

We have Taskmaster crackers this year. I have high hopes.

SomethingAboutNothing · 15/12/2023 21:53

Ticket to ride, Catan and Monopoly deal in our house.

Haveyouseenthemuffinman · 15/12/2023 21:53

Oh I think you absolutely can beat the classics -there are so many more interesting, better paced games around now than Monopoly and Cluedo!

Ticket To Ride would be quick to pick up though. But if someone is likely to be upset at winning or losing, a collaborative game like Forbidden Island might be better.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 15/12/2023 21:55

Exploding Kittens has been one that the DC have wanted to play again and again.

How about Poetry for NEANDERTHALS? You've got some time to practice too Xmas Grin

Outsmarted great for all ages as you put age in and it tailors questions for each person

Bought that for my 10 year old this year, I thought it looked good.

Perudo and Colour Brain are fun and easy to play. Pictures is a good one too, the premise is really simple but it can be quite challenging.

FurryNavel · 15/12/2023 23:52

I’m not a huge fan of exploding kittens either, don’t get the hype.

My recommendations are Codenames, chameleon, sounds fishy, just one, spyfall, telestrations, azul, forbidden island, Werewords, one night werewolf, wits and wagers.

twdad · 16/12/2023 00:32

Carcassonne
Jamaica 2nd Edition
Jaipur 2nd Edition
Ticket to Ride
Camel Up

Ransom notes is very good and really funny. You get a handful of random magnetic words and use them to try and explain what’s on the card. My teens loved it, as did we.

I just bought Richard Osman's House of Games yesterday. I've never seen the tv show, so I hope it will be ok.

EasilyDistracted77 · 16/12/2023 16:56

There's a great game called Bilder, essentially like charades but instead of acting, you build the thing on the card with a wide range of little wooden shapes.
