Any ideas? I’d like to get something for us to play together - 2 adults, a 7 year old and an 8 year old. TIA x

Rats to riches is great my 11 and 8 year old have been playing it since they were 9 and 6

Isn't exactly a board game but I've ordered "fill your pants" for my 7&8 year old thought we could play it on Christmas Day it comes with two large pairs of pants and you have to find stuff around the house e.g something red they have to run and find something red and put it in there pants etc.. got a feeling they will enjoy this lol, then they've got headbanz, jenga, frustration, they love guess who and connect 4 and operation an old favourite

Go for broke, colourbrain, a version of monopoly or cluedo
my youngest enjoys monopoly deal or muddles for card games that are really fun for all

Labyrinth, the 7 year old should be able to understand the rules but if not you can play as teams

aliceinanwonderland · 14/12/2023 19:49

Cluedo!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 14/12/2023 19:54

Another vote for Labyrinth, or Orchard Toys' "Tummy Ache" is hilarious

ThomasinaLivesHere · 14/12/2023 19:56

Catan? I think 7 years could do that and it’s fun.

popgoesperfection · 14/12/2023 20:01

frustration. my 8 and 4 year old love this.

Cluedo!

Yep. My 7 and 10 year olds love it

We love board games and have a wide spread of ages: 14, 12, 9 and 7.

My 7 year old plays a half decent game of Catan! And it's fun for adults. He can't beat us yet.... But he has a strategy and he sticks to it!

We have the Christmas eve board game which is surprisingly fun, really festive and cooperative.

Not a board game but the one night ultimate werewolf games are really fun and are really quick. All of mine love them.

I second labyrinth. We have the Pokemon version which my seven year old plays well.

Ticket to ride is good, but they might need some help finding their routes initially at 7.

We also sometimes play teams with more complex stuff. Means that really start getting the idea. Ds7 was playing Catan in teams at 4 and was probably able to play independently from around 5-6.

Currently teaching the seven year old takenoko.... He's not there yet.

The Game of Life
Catan Junior
Dixit
Fluxx (various)
Ticket to Ride
King of Tokyo

Cincinnatus · 14/12/2023 20:09

Guess who!

NameChange30 · 14/12/2023 20:11

Ticket to Ride My First Journey is a simpler version of Ticket to Ride and my 6yo can play it. We all enjoy it!

Thingamebobwotsit · 14/12/2023 20:25

Quacks of Quedlinburgh
Carcassonne
It's a Chicken

EllaPaella · 14/12/2023 20:40

Ticket to Ride ans Game of Life are both very popular in our house - DC age 13 and 9.

DRS1970 · 14/12/2023 20:58

Connect Four, Downfall, Mouse Trap, Buckaroo, Operation, Hungry Hippos...

MordredsOrrery · 14/12/2023 21:08

Space Escape - mole rats in space is a fun cooperative board game which 6yo, 8yo, 10yo and grown ups love (4 player though so turn taking necessary)

Mirrormeback · 14/12/2023 21:13

Labyrinth and Frustration are great for all ages

Frenchfancy · 14/12/2023 21:15

Quirkle is really good and quite strategic. Our DD could beat us when she was about 8.

Leafpicker2000 · 14/12/2023 21:18

Dobble
Niagara
Dixit

Bramblecrumble22 · 14/12/2023 21:18

Outfoxed, maybe a little young, it's cooperative so less upset.

wednamenov · 14/12/2023 22:25

Quacks of Quedlinburg
Ghost Fighting Treasure Hunters
Castle Panc

wednamenov · 14/12/2023 22:26

The last two are cooperative.

Britneyfan · 14/12/2023 22:26

Disney Villainous is such an underrated board game and so fun.

Overhauler · 15/12/2023 15:14

Glad to hear that @Britneyfan it’s hard to think of new games each year so we have bought that for ds10 plus a collaborative one called forbidden island
