Does anybody with an open fireplace or wood burner actually hang their stockings over it? I have a lovely old fireplace but never actually hang the stockings there because we use the fire most nights, and it would surely be a fire hazard. But I see so many roaring fireplaces on festive TV shows with stockings hanging around them - not to mention all the swags and foliage draped over the mantels... it makes me a bit sad that mine doesn't look like that, but I don't see how I can have a poncetastic fireplace without risking burning the house down - any suggestions?
