How to hang Christmas lights on uk houses?

How do you hang Christmas lights on your typical uk houses without a ladder? By typical I mean two story, gutters around roof etc. I have watched lots of videos but they are all American with wrap porches etc!

Why can't you use a ladder. We use a mixture of a ladder and DH hanging out of the bedroom windows...

I'm lucky we have a lower gutter above our bay window at the front so I use a step ladder and gutter hooks to hang our icicles

Clear Gorilla tape, awesome stuff! It keeps the lights up even when it's blowing a gale and chucking it down, just be careful removing it because it really sticks!

Ah I thought as much. We only have a small telescopic ladder that is literally just enough to get into the loft…

I've seen people suggest command hooks- I found them useless. So traditional hooks, clips and suction pads.
