DD is getting an Instax camera from her grandparents (or is that too Techy?)

PinkyU · 12/12/2023 10:07

It really depends on ages, interests and budget.

It really depends on ages, interests and budget.

My art loving 10 year old is getting some £££markers and colouring pencils that she’ll squeal at delight with, my 13 year old not so much.

NoSquirrels · 12/12/2023 10:19

How much are you spending, and what are their interests?

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 12/12/2023 10:22

Ski's, or snowboard? Complete series of their fav books? Guitar?

PinkyU · 12/12/2023 10:29

We’ve also got all our dc cloth bound versions of their favourite books, that should be a pretty “wow” moment for them too.

givemushypeasachance · 12/12/2023 11:33

Where did skis come from as a suggestion! Even if they go skiing every year presumably you usually hire the gear there?

Seconded/thirded something linked to a special interest or coveted brand or item, that's what gets you the ooh. Child me would have loved anything linked to cats, a friend's child anything Minecraft themed, another kid may really love an Oodie in a cool pattern as that's what is cool with their friends.

BigBoysDontCry · 12/12/2023 11:55

Is this for your own DC? An ooh gift is either something they've been wanting or something very specific to them.

That's going to be very different for each child. One might want a piece of jewellery (think Pandora is still desirable with teens) and the other would hate that but love a real oodie or a fish tank or new bedding or whatever. Without more info it's a bit hard to suggest.

Have you talked to them about what they might like?

2010rachel29 · 12/12/2023 12:20

Sadly got Instax or similar last year.

Some nice jewellery? Maybe a charm bracelet they can add to over the years.

Trainers like converse, Nike dunks etc

Crocs

Wireless headphones

Sommerled · 12/12/2023 12:56

Tickets to a show or gig?

Minikievs · 12/12/2023 15:12

Watching with interest for my DD.

So far I've got her a moon lamp and fluffy crocs. Neither of which she's asked for, but her list is literally BLANK at the moment.

A snowboard made me laugh out loud 😂

drspouse · 12/12/2023 15:42

Which moon lamp did you get @Minikievs ? I want to get one for DS but DH says we don't need it (I think he'd be delighted!).
DS is 11 and is getting massive amounts of Lego, onesie, a magnetic game.
DD is 9 and is getting clothes for her dolls, onesie, and a bedroom bin (she needs one! I think she'll be pleased though).
Both of them are getting new tablets, and minifigs in their stockings (custom for DD, Ninjas for DS), plus gingerbread duck soaps, pants and socks (traditional plus it fills up the stocking!).

MsMaturio · 14/12/2023 19:43

Yes to the name necklaces. I got a local silversmith the make a delicate version of DD's nickname that she prefers to her full name (it's pretty unusual). It was really simple but so nice, she loved it.

It cost £40 I think? Maybe £35? Anyway, it was a tiny amount for a really special thing.

reluctantbrit · 14/12/2023 21:34

Depends on their interests but DD loved either theatre tickets or animal experiences at that age.
