Can someone recommend a watch for an 18 year old girl?

Needs to be understated. Silver bezel if it is an analogue watch. I’ve searched old threads for ideas - Olivia Burton was recommended a lot but that isn’t really her thing. She doesn’t like clothes with logos so it needs to be ‘quiet’.

Price wise - £125 max.

Fitbit charge 6 is in the running. Not a Swatch.

I could imagine her liking this from Skagen but I am really not sure (and it is out of stock)

Rotary eco drive are good watches, battery charges in light, so you don’t need to worry about replacing it. Good quality.

Thanks @Roselilly36 but I don’t think they’re the minimalist look she would like/wear.

I'd suggest swatch. There's so many options, classic timepieces

IMO Swatch are fashion pieces too - they might have a connection to luxury brands/some swiss components but apart from clever marketing I see nothing to distinguish them from most other watches in the same price bracket.

I’m after a top up gift though not an heirloom so all good - I just don’t like Swatch.

I'd second Garmin, especially if there's a chance she might like some of the extra sport features. They've got some lovely looking watches reduced to £150ish at the moment on their website "Lily" and "Vivimove". I've been wearing Garmin for years and love them.

Xiaomi watch, the 19 year old girlfriend of my son has one, lots of features

HappyMavis · 10/12/2023 08:42

Have you asked her what she prefers or is it intended as a surprise?

There's (obviously) a fundamental difference between a digital Fitbit and an analogue faced watch. Has she expressed any preference?

Skagan ? Their watches are very understated

But I don't think they have sports features

Beware Skagen - they look lovely but because they have such large glass faces it’s really hard to replace the battery. I ended up having to send it back to the manufacturer just to get a new battery.

what about Fossil? Some good bargains in the outlet section of website

Thanks all, those are lovely @fernsandlilies . I especially like the Nordgreen Native.

It is a surprise. I’ve established (by stealth) that she likes this. Pleased about that as I was keen to find an analogue watch, you can escape social media with an analogue watch and a book in a way that a teen might not otherwise.

I’m not worried about the battery change, I’ve got a third generation clockmaker locally, he’s changed batteries in everything from my Breitling to a Timex.

Actually I’ve now bought it for £76 at Amazon, bargain.
