Do I just put the in the bin?
Does anyone know what the problem is?

I would also like to know this, I have phoned up and I was told I would get an email when they have an update.

I find it rather strange no specifics are known as to what this recall is regarding, with food and such usualy you find out it's a labeling issue or ingrediant but with this it's not clear. I personally think as it's not stated that it could be the tape that is pulled that is a safety concern perhaps too much added causing a fire risk so they don't want anyone to know and as a result do a MR Bean and cause one big bang.

Topofthemountain · 09/12/2023 11:09

I'm wondering this too, a Google search only brings this thread up, which is more than I found Thursday night.

Something around the 'bang' could be right. They are so pretty though, I went for the Stag ones.

TheBeatles · 09/12/2023 11:11

My conspiracy theory is that it’s the bang but they don’t want to say it because people will try them just to see what happens!

Topofthemountain · 09/12/2023 11:13

I want to try it anyway, the not knowing makes it all the more tempting.

LaChatte · 09/12/2023 11:26

Probably choking hazard on the gifts inside and not labeled correctly or something surely? Would be exciting if it was the bang though, Mr Bean all the way.

hexsnidgett · 09/12/2023 23:37

Dh wants to give them a go.Hmm
The thing is if it's just the gifts, we're all adults it will be fine.

Mine too.

He said he'd do it in the garden so as to not burn the house down.

Decorhate · 10/12/2023 07:54

It sounds from the previous posts that more than one type of cracker is affected - I’ve bought the Cluedo ones for extras as I thought they would be fun for after dinner. I’m also assuming it’s the snap, might try to fish those out.

hexsnidgett · 10/12/2023 09:43

@Topofthemountain please do report back if you give them a try.

OP posts:
mynameiscalypso · 10/12/2023 09:45

I got the email about the Cluedo crackers too. I'm so stupidly desperate to open them!

MrsMitford3 · 10/12/2023 09:46

Maybe it is a devious PR ploy as now I want to buy them?

StuntNun · 10/12/2023 13:12

Has anyone tried theirs yet to see what happens?

IzzyE · 10/12/2023 18:22

Yes! The temptation was too great, so DH and I had a go when the kids weren't around. We have the Cluedo set. Nothing happened, no singed eyebrows and there was no choke-worthy gift inside, so we are none the wiser. I had also wondered if it's a snap thing, so am tempted to empty out the contents so we can still play after Christmas dinner. I have bought new crackers to pull though. I came across this thread in the same way as many of you - looking for information - so do tell is anyone finds anything else out!

Reepycheepy · 11/12/2023 18:23

Oh I’m glad I found this thread as also had the email with the cluedo crackers and couldn’t find anything.

oddly they were still available elsewhere as well.

DawnBreaks · 11/12/2023 20:50

Mine are the kraft/red snowflake crackers and Ocado tells me to bin them. Like other dh's, mine says to just use them as it will add interest at the Christmas dinner table. 🙄 We are all adults btw. I bought napkins and table decorations to match them, so I'm loathe to chuck em in the bin!

GarethRossUK · 11/12/2023 22:04

Ocado told us we would get an email back after three days, nothing heard yet.

I wonder if it's something more sinister (sorry) but I do have to think was it found to be a slave labour camp, something another British brand was found to be unknowingly using.

Who knows with made in china could be anything if its not safety related assuming that is correct then the hats wont be using a die that can cause a reaction. Without facts we can make up anything we want and still be non the wiser.

salamirose · 11/12/2023 22:13

I really wouldn't use them. They don't do this sort of thing unless they have to.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 11/12/2023 22:17

Perhaps one of the jokes is so funny you will die of laughter.

RachieRach85 · 15/12/2023 17:11

Hi All, i messaged Ocado via FB today in regards to these crackers. Sounds like they are safe, i have copied their response below:

Hi Rachel, this is a quality issue, there is no risk to you in using this product, but we are encouraging customers to dispose of these products as they do not been our Ocado standards. A dedicated team within Ocado Retail is investigating this further with the supplier so we can look to prevent anything like this from happening in future. There is no further information I would be able to provide regarding this, unfortunately. Is there anything else I can do for you today?

mynameiscalypso · 15/12/2023 17:49

Yeah, I think maybe they were just a bit shit. I had some other crackers in my basket for my Christmas shop and had an email today saying they'd been removed because of 'quality problems with the supplier'.

hexsnidgett · 15/12/2023 19:31

Oh, that's good news! I don't mind them being a bit crap. Especially as they were free.Grin

fluffylittlebear · 15/12/2023 19:32

watching as intrigued. someone please report back 😂

Decafflatteplease · 15/12/2023 19:34

Which crackers are affected please?

hexsnidgett · 15/12/2023 22:01

'International Greetings' is the make, according to my email, you probably had an email if you bought some.

OP posts:
GarethRossUK · 25/12/2023 19:10

Merry Christmas, did anyone keep these?

I purchased some from Sainsburys and we only opened two today so far and one of those was missing a prize.
