Last year, following recommendations on here, I bought Telestrations which was a huge success. We also liked Scattergories.

We already have a large number of games - so have Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride etc, and love card games too. I'm wondering if there are any other recommendations that people can make. We are 7 people, so ideally need games that aren't a maximum number of 6 (although we can make do if there are).

Need it not to be too grown up/rude as my youngest is 11.

Thanks everyone!

Herd Mentality. Played with my youngest (11) as well as my teen and adults. You can have loads of players. Quite silly and easy to pick up. Not a lot of strategy to it but lots of fun for a half an hour after dinner game, but doesn't need to be played at a table either.

We played Colour Brain with multigenerational family group (mid-teens to octogenarian) and had a great time. I can't remember any details but know it was really fun!

Genius square is good! Simple but very good for kids and grown ups! Only 2 player but everyone loves playing it in our family.

Meant to attach pic. Also hobby craft has a very very good deal if you can get it!

Exploding kittens is a good game

Secret Hitler is fun with 7

Sounds fishy is great for an after dinner game for upto 10 people but works with as few as 3.

We also enjoy Pandemic.

As others have suggested, ticket to ride, settlers of catan, exploding kittens, colour brain, herd mentality are all good options 👍🏻

How about an escape room?
We did one last year and it was such good fun

We played a great home made game last Christmas, It is a home made thing!!
Each player gets five raffle tickets, and you put the matching tickets in a bowl.
You have a list of awesome prizes that are written on cards, Examples of the prizes
A cleaner for the day
A trip to space
A spa day
A hairdresser experience
A race car experience
A Gin experience
£100

So you pull out the tickets and the first to match pick their prize but you keep going until all tickets are pulled so players can taken the prizes of the initial winner. Once all tickets are pulled and the players have the written cards you give them their prizes. They think they are getting something awesome but
A cleaner for the day - wrapped packet of cleaning cloths.
A trip to space- Milkyway bar and starburst sweets
A spa day - A face mask
A hairdresser experience - A hair brush
A race car experience - A toy car from poundland
A Gin experience - A mini gin
£100 - Monopoly money.

It was hilarious and is great for a big group, the taking of the prizes from other peoples adds to the craic.

Telestrations is a fun game to play with groups. It should be Amazon. I was recommended it by Mumsnet and it's an easy, laugh out loud game

MonikerBing · 05/12/2023 19:01

We got Telestrations last Christmas - it did go down very well!
