I'd really like to get a particularly lovely one - so many are a bit shit!
Any suggestions?

On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman is very sweet and beautifully illustrated.

Or what about a set of board book classics: Where's Spot?, Peepo, Each Peach Pear Plum, The Gruffalo, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Goodnight Moon.

What about something they can always keep like an illustrated Alice in Wonderland or a set of the Winnie the Pooh books?

AuntMarch · 04/12/2023 06:30

Thank you,
She already has the classics like Where's Spot etc.. (I know because we passed them on!). I'll have to have a bit of a snoop next time we go round to see if there are any collections already!

I think I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like Nancy Tilmans book!

The jolly Christmas postman

That is one that came to my mind, but its actually quite long/delicate isn't it?

I think maybe a copy of this with a message written in the front, and throw in some touch and feel Christmas books I found in our Xmas tree box that she could enjoy right away.

My son's godfather gave him a beautiful copy of The Night Before Christmas for his first Christmas, and reading that each year has become an important part of Christmas for us. It still is, even though he's almost a teenager.

The mog series is absolutely gorgeous.....or anything by Shirley Hughes (annie and Alfie) . Classic books my sons still read 18 years later!!! ❤️

My baby's favorite was always 'What Does Baby Want', if they are breastfed they will love it!

Julia Donaldson books and 'We're going on a Bear Hunt' are always popular but you've probably passed those on already.

I also liked Baby Feminist & You're my Little Cuddle Bug.

OhpoorMe · 07/12/2023 12:53

I always buy new babies in the family a wonderbly book which is personalised to them.
