Why is my Balsam Hill prelit tree flashing?!

Help! I've had my Balsam Hill prelit tree since 2015. I've just started to put it up this evening and the lights are flashing on and off. Lovely you might think, but they're not supposed to do that! This tree doesn't have a light pattern setting, and they're supposed to be always on.

Any ideas? I'm having a festive gathering tomorrow and don't want to be without the tree 😭

Is the connector between the parts that fit together maybe dirty or dusty?

Connectors all look in good condition. I've also tried connecting them in all sorts of combinations in case that made a difference. It didn't 🙁

Does it have a molded plug or one that you can open to check the wires are still connected properly?

@Justmuddlingalong Thanks to you I've sorted it! The plug might be moulded, but it connects as a separate part to the light string. I tried the transformer from another set of lights and it works! Thank you!
