Anyone marking the 1st December?

What do you do in your house?

I’ve set the table for breakfast with my mismatched collection of Christmas dishes and table cloths. Advent calendars and Christmas jumpers on each chair. The Christmas mice have brought some mince pies - traditionally they move into the dollhouse for December but someone will have to evict the spider that’s currently living in there first!

And I can’t sleep, so I’m going to be too shattered in the morning to enjoy it!

Elves (x3!) are laid out on the dining table here, alongside the advent calendars.

They also bring us a delicious breakfast - croissants, chocolate filled crepes and raspberries this year.

MrsDilligaf · 01/12/2023 05:19

The elves deliver an advent box which contains;
Christmas Jumper
Christmas Pyjamas
Advent Calendar
Christmas Craft Kit

It also contains books, a santa hat, a mug, plate and a little stuffed elf, all of which have been going into the box for years.

Waves to fellow insomniacs.
@StartingAgainAgain23 your breakfast sounds delicious!

@MrsDilligaf Mine get excited seeing the same old things coming out every year too.

We've got six elves two of which sit on 2dc bed. 2 sit on the bare Xmas tree and the other two with their advent calenders. Breakfast will be chocolate croissants & ginger hot choc.

Lilithlogic · 01/12/2023 05:35

I will have a cup of tea and my first mince pie using my Christmas cup and mince pie plate.

captaincalamari12 · 01/12/2023 05:37

The elves arrive and bring advent calendar's, Christmas jumpers. Christmas pyjamas, a book, a craft and a Christmas cup. Breakfast will be normal breakfast food but served on reindeer paper plates, with reindeer cups and straws.

Timeforallthecheese · 01/12/2023 06:31

christmas mugs are out, advent calendars are out, Adam our elf is here (DS is 16 😂), decorations are down from the attic ready to go up tonight and Christmas bedding is washed and ready for a sheet change tonight too. Outside lights went up last weekend.

PurplePositivity · 01/12/2023 06:34

Teenagers have their advent calendars, I even bought one for my mum.

I bought Christmas toilet paper so w

Just changed the house phone ring tone to jingle bells, it never rings so by the time it rings I'll have forgotten Grin

NotFastButFurious · 01/12/2023 06:36

I stood my advent calendar up last night!

jesterdourt · 01/12/2023 06:39

Advent calendars out & I will start on the tree! Need to find all the Christmas books & the elf!

D20 · 01/12/2023 06:43

Old skool with only Dairy Milk advent calendars here. Decs/mugs/bedding down at the weekend plus a local Christmas fair.

HalebiHabibti · 01/12/2023 06:43

I put the Fairytale of New York on while making my cup of tea 😂 advent calendars may also be doled out!

mondaytosunday · 01/12/2023 06:49

No time gif breakfast - Usual rush to get teen daughter to train station for college and dog walk - then I've got a wreath making workshop booked for today and I'll get a couple parcels sent at the PO and buy Christmas stamps. Collect a few boxes of decs from storage as we'll get the tree Saturday. None of this is necessarily tied to Dec 1 - just so happens today is the day I'm doing it.

Monkeybutt1 · 01/12/2023 08:43

Advent calendars out, trees going up and all decorations out. Christmas tea towels and tea bag rest will be coming out, Baileys is in the fridge and we will start on the celebrations (first tub) this weekend. DS has his martial arts black belt test tomorrow morning so doesn't want to fill his face with chocolate today understandably. Xmas market and York chocolate story on Sunday for a treat. DH and I are going to a Xmas market at the local wildlife park tomorrow morning whilst DS is at his test. Xmas jumpers are out and I have sparkly nails! 😁

We are the same with advent calendars, you can't go wrong with them!

@PurplePositivity love the idea of changing the ring tone. I used to do that with our doorbell.
@HalebiHabibti Fairytale is especially poignant with the passing of Shane.

I lit a candle for the breakfast table and had some chocolate with my morning tea. Love this month.

UpUpUpU · 01/12/2023 10:27

The elf has brought advent calendars and Christmas pyjamas for my son and I.
we put the decorations up yesterday so that all looks lovely,
I woke up to some sad news this morning so that’s put a dampener on things but I’ll do my best for my son.

crackfoxy · 01/12/2023 11:09

I've got this cardi on!

Anyone marking the 1st December?
Fluffyc1ouds · 01/12/2023 11:11

We just open our advent calendars which DS was really excited about this morning. We don't do anything else (definitely no elves here) but it is a nice exciting feeling! I refuse to get Christmassy before December so it starts now.

Nonplusultra · 01/12/2023 12:17

@UpUpUpU sorry to hear that. Flowers
